Not a global flood. But there are some scientific ideas as to a regional flood, that to the local people would have seemed like the end of the world.
There is a theory, that the flooding of the Black Sea, may be the inspiration for several flood stories that come out of that region of the world and are found in Greek myths, Babylonian myths, and many think the myth of Noah.
With glaciers still melting from the last ice age, the thin Bosporus of Turkey, finally gave way under the pressure of rising sea levels and unleashed a catastrophic flood, that probably killed most of the people living around, what was then a small fresh water lake.
It turned this fresh water lake, into a salt water lake, killing off all the life in the lake, that was fresh water.
They have found remnants of villages under the waters, as well as boats and pottery, that date to the biblical dates for the the fabled flood.
It's really quite interesting. And if true, shows that yes, even the stories of the Bible were written to make sense of things people didn't yet understand about the natural world.

Best theory I've heard is about maybe 8,000 years ago, as the last ice age was melting off (it still is) sea levels rose to where the Atlantic breached the straights of Gibraltar (pillars of Hercules) and flooded both what is now the Medeterranian Sea and the next one north, Caspian/Baltic/Black? These would have been the most fertile places on earth at the time and the seat of civilization.
As for whether this had anything to do with God (and the alleged need to purify the earth of its rotten humans and giants) hey, all things work together, so it's impossible to prove or disprove,.

If it is true we are all incest offspring of Noah's familial survivors and Evolution took off like a mega explosion. Also, if they were able to put 2 of every type of creature on a boat on the Earth I want to know why we are not Super humans. 20 foot Salt water crocodiles, Lethal Spiders, King Cobras, and 8 different versions written by different authors in the dead sea scroll about the Flood an Noah's arch. Ok, they did not have XEROX Machines but the happy animal boat story does not have logic. First God Loves us then he was to Kill us then he was us to Burn in Hell if we don't do exactly what is written in a Book that Jewish People 10,000 years ago, remembered to eventually write down. When Jesus died only about 1/2 of 1 percent of the people were literate. So I would think word of mouth could create some variation in stories by word of mouth. I think someone had a Dream about what was going to happen that was really bad and went psycho about it. Not unusual in the Eastern Religions Extremism, blood sacrifices were always documented in the Old Testament. Peruvians sacrificed children to have good crops. and it goes on and on. We sacrifice men and women in war because we fear people are out to get Americans because we are paranoid because of our past history of Genocide and doing as we please when it comes to other countries business.
Our Country has a great flood now of ignorance, arrogance and apathy, greed and lack of self respect and respect for other peoples space and common respect and plain non-use of the Golden Rule.
We only punish our self selvese evidence is all around us, as we enslave our selves to our own hedonistic glutgluttonousetites for instant gratification. Rise above it. The fog is only a program.
Cut through it by thinking out of the programming and find the reality of what is really happening. Noah's instructions may have been correct but his resources were extremely limited. Probability 99.5% not likely the Flood covered the Earth. There is a possibility that all land masses were covered at one time with water for extented period of time due to fossilized aquatic life found on mountains and terrestrial life fossils found on ocean bottoms, due to plate shifts and earth quakes, volcanic explosions and large objects hitting the earth blowing sea matter on to the moutains such as in the wester USA.

There are flood myths in a lot of cultures on the Indian Ocean coast.
Scientists followed chevrons caused by massive water movement from several continents. They lined up over a massive hole in the middle of the Indian Ocean from an asteroid impact that apparently happened there several thousand years ago.
Whether this is the source of the flood myth is up to debate.

No there is no evidence for an absurd amount of water to come from nowhere and to dissapear into nowhere outside of the supernatural. This is for obvious reasons.
Never mind the whole issue of life surviving such an event. The only possible way the flood would occur would be through divine intervention.
Epic of Gilgamesh texts predate all the texts we have on the Noah Flood and it covers much of the same ideas.

God caused the flood to kill off all the demonic people who came from demons that mated with human women and there were giants on the earth. Inhuman people except for Noah and his family that were pure humans. So God told him he was bringing a flood and it would kill everything but them and the animals the Lord told Noah to bring into the ark. It rained for 40 days and nights.
Noah and his family were saved along with the animals, and after the flood the ground dried out and the Lord blessed them with a new home land.

Probably wasn't a flood of the world but, just a small flash flood that engulfed his village or something. Then again it's in the bible and was passed down as a oral story therefore warped a hell of a lot...

Also nothing to do with global or even a measurable percentage of life on Earth.
Most civilizations started near a body of water. Bodies of water sometimes flood. The story often gets bigger with each telling. That pretty much sums it up.

It never happened.
The closest thing to a global flood was the rise in sea level following the Ice Age.

There was no global flood. There may have been a large local one however which spawned the myth... no gods involved, but early man would probably attribute it to one or more, again, adding ro rhe myth...
