Yes it is possible (from what ive seen on youtube) - as long as you don't have built in graphics.
It differs from Laptop to laptop though.
The OS shouldn't make much of a difference, most new GPU cards work with XP, Vista &, for the majority, Windows 7

you cannot upgrade the video card in a laptop. there are a few rare cases where you can, but it takes a lot of skill to do that, frankly, if you have to ask, you dont have. sorry
