Which Sonic Youth album should I get next?
So far I've only got EVOL, Sister, and Daydream Nation. I plan on buying another one soon, but not sure which. Sister is my favorite so far. So if anyone has any recommendations, it would be appreciated.
BQ: Daydream Nation or Sister?

Its funny.. just the other day i pulled Sister out to enjoy it once again...
i would say... your next move is...
Goo or Dirty
and perhaps..
Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star...
I'm really enjoying the new album " The Eternal"
BQ: Daydream Nation

Honestly I found Experimental Jet Set..... to be a step backwards for SY so I definitely would not recommend that one. I'd go with the concensus and say either Goo or Dirty, leaning towards Goo. It really is an amazing album, continuing on from where they left off with Daydream Nation. Another worth looking into is Rather Ripped, definitely my favorite since Dirty was released. It's a really solid piece.
Hey Prof! Hope all finds you fantastic!!
BQ: Man that's tough but since I first was introduced to Daydream Nation years ago I'll have to go with that. IMO it's the ultimate guitar album, simply brilliant.

I'd say get Bad Moon Rising, it was earlier than the three albums you mentioned but i'd say it's the more 'Sister' sounding album than the stuff that followed Daydream Nation. It's also got Death Valley 69 on it which is one of my favourite Sonic Youth songs

BQ - That's a toughie! Though as i play Sister more than Daydream i'll go with that.

Goo is their best album, IMO. Get that.
BQ - Daydream Nation, although I've heard only select songs from both, so I'm not sure if I know enough to answer the BQ fully.
Edit -
Yeah Prof., I saw the comments and responded on the question. Very insightful, and I'm very grateful. I decided I am gonna get the album and just hope for the best. Thanks for the comments!

Hi TL.
Personally, I think Goo is my favorite, but I'm not as high on the early stuff. I had Sister on tape back in the day on tape, Evol also, but I never updated them to cd so aside from a couple tracks here and there I haven't heard them in about 10 years so my opinion may not be the most educated. I liked them (particularly Tuff Gnarl, Catholic Block, and Schizophrenia), but I was just never inspired to bring them into the cd age.
Anyways, for what it's worth, I would go with Goo, but the answer to your bonus is definitely Daydream Nation for me.

Murray Street is also definitely worth looking at.

Hi Doc,
Just wanted to let you know that I added a comment to your Mars Volta question for my take on it. Hope it was helpful.

Bad Moon Rising may be my favorite of their records, and if you like EVOL and Sister, you'd probably like it, too.
You could also go with Washing Machine. Goo and Dirty are good records, but they're so polished. I'd get those later.
BQ: Daydream Nation. I don't like Sister all that much.

Well, my two favorites are Goo and Dirty. I would recommend getting Dirty next.
BQ: Ooh, that's a tough one. I'll pick Daydream Nation based one the fact that I love Eric's Trip so much.

Hi TL :D
I recomend you get either Dirty or Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star.
BQ: Daydream Nation

Buy the Deluxe version of Goo. I doubt you'll be disappointed. The bonus material alone is worth the purchase.
