Who are the hypocrites in our government?
Who are the legislatures that support pro life (no abortions) and decline basic health assurance for the same because health insurance has to be for profit? Do they also embrace and glorify Jesus Christ on Sunday knowing that Jesus fed the multitudes, tore down the thieving merchants in their market place and walked among the lepers to cure them and leave them without coins jingling in His pockets.
Is hypocrisy alive and well?

You mean like the people who constantly want to raise everyone elses taxes, but somehow neglect to pay their own
or the people who don't know what "the definition of 'is' is"
or the people who "landed under sniper fire"
Or the ones who want everyone to have a public health care system, but then refuse to have their family be covered by that system.

Hypocrisy is a poor criteria for picking leaders in a republic/democracy form of government where compromise and making deals rather than consensus is the method of making laws.
While wisdom is with the People, the electorate, wisdom is not expressed by the elected, it is expressed by their joint action that will be in places contradictory, unjust and even illegal.
While we agree that justice and fairness must prevail, we disagree as to what that is. This is because politics is _not_ science. Each person should realize that his views of reality and good and justice must be tested against experience; it is only then that our views will more closely resemble each other and reality. Even then disagreement, compromise (and its seeming hypocrisy) will not go away.
The perfect is the enemy of the good.

Since your question is on a religious level, sin is alive and well. For things to be as you wish, people must strive to live without sin by following God's rules. Being that is a revolting thought these days, hypocrisy as you describe it flourishes everywhere. To erradicate it requires people to do what many are fighting tooth and nail they dont.

For the umpteenth time, when someone describes themselves as "pro-life," they are not describing their views about war, the death penalty, or how much/little government should socialize the health care industry. They are describing nothing more than there views about abortion. Why is it so hard for you to understand that?
Think about it: when someone described themselves as the opposite -- "pro-choice" -- they do not mean that they are in favor of "choice" when it comes to the minimum wage, or to having "choice" about whether or not to obey environmental regulations. When someone says they are "pro-choice," they are ONLY describing how they feel about abortion.
