I cut the vinyl sheet flooring too small - now what?

This is what I get for working late into the night! I removed carpet from the bathroom, and used it as a template on my vinyl sheet flooring. Cut a little outside it, and took the sheet into the bathroom. Got impatient, and while cutting to final size, made it about 3/4" to 1" too small on two (opposing) sides. Haven't adhered it yet. Is there any way to recover from this? Would a large quarter-round at these edges look silly?

Go get another sheet and do it again. That's your only option.

But, don't feel too bad. I had a handyman put down some rolled vinyl in a bathroom once. First, he put it down and then a faucet supply valve broke. This flooded out the floor and it bubbled up before it dried. So, he had to rip it up and replace it. Then, he accidentally used a glue for wood floors instead of vinyl (it was next to the vinyl at the Home Depot, so it was really their fault). But, the wood glue doesn't dry completely. So, he had to rip it out and replace it again. He finally got it right the third time. But, he wasn't too happy about it.

Your idea of using a quarter-round is good, and it will look OK.

You may also consider a moulding strip, one that is wide enough on the bottom to cover the gap and then extend up the wall 2 or more inches.

That is why Man invented trim.

Idea. What about sliding it over and then the part that isn't covered use another piece cut to match then cover the whole thing with some sort of built in Shelf or stand.

Screw ups are best when they force you to make something really cool to hide your mistake.

1/4 round is out of the question. if you can't live with a seam swallow your pride and buy a new peice of vinyl. save the reject for a pantry or shed. you violated a cardinal rule - measure twice, cut once.

Check with the store and the manufacturer. Many now offer to replace the sheet if you screw it up. They do this to encourage folks to buy their product for DIY installs.

Check it out then fill us in on how it works out.

Try decorating the outsize somehow, like buy the same kind of carpet that you used on the floor and cut it into strips and put it around the outside.

You could always buy some more (just a little) in a slightly different shade and make a border. No one needs to know you didn't do it on purpose.
