What percentage of Utah/Salt Lake City are mormons?

Just wandering. :)

Update:

I ask because when I go there I only see mormon churches and no other kind, and when I went to the lagoon (amusement park there) there was even some mormon thing there I think. It seems everyone I met was mormon.

Per current statistics, 60-70% are Mormons.

The figures are somewhat different for SLC in particular and for the rest of Utah, because you have to factor in nonmormon areas like Park City. So while Utah is around sixty percent, SLC is a little higher. Also, keep in mind there are active mormons and the hatched matched and dispatched kind who are at best hobby mormons and at worst inactive but born into a mormon family. Census figures don't make any distinction.

The often cited claim that Utah is 70 percent Mormon is not true - and hasn't been true for more than a decade, according to the church numbers. While continuing to grow in actual members, the LDS share of the state population showed a slow but constant decline every year from 1989 to 2004.

According to the 2004 count, Utah is now 62.4 percent LDS with every county showing a decrease.

There's lots of other churches in Utah.

I think it's about 60% (or so) for the state as a whole, the percentage of LDS people in SLC is lower.

some are mormon, believe me there is enough Non mormons to ruin it for all the saints.

some are saints some are "aints".

its a very different world in utah, with all the same distractions of the world. and the same sins and rebellion as world wide.

i would say 80 % are mormon. but only 60 % are active.

above is a link to the churches in the SLC area. They have JW and seventh day aventist two other cults and even a freemason lodge in SLC UT as well. I think they have a catholic cathedral as well. My dad lives in W.V.C. they have two catholic churche sin his area alone and my borther belongs to a baptsit church, I know it seems there is an LDS churhc on every corner, but SLC has chnaged since when I lived there and there is all kinds of churches there now.

Its not all mormon, but sometimes it feels like it is.
