What do you think of the show "16 and Pregnant?"?

I like it, but I somehow I think it makes teenage pregnancy seem acceptable when girls should be focusing on school at that age.

I don't watch the show but, I agree with the teen pregnancy increase. I have bought for 5 baby showers which have all been for unwed under aged teenage mothers. I think it may have more to do with the economy than television although television does play a part in the role. The failing economy at the moment makes it hard to get out and do anything. Normally a teenager would go to a movie or out to eat but, since many parents can't afford to give teenagers an allowance they cannot do these things. Instead teenagers go over to their boyfriend or girlfriends house and,...well there really isn't much to do at someones house and the kids are unsupervised so there ya go.

I honestly like the show. The series has shown three of the six teen moms and so far I think it warns young girls that teen pregnancy makes you grow up and miss out on being a normal teen. Each girl had to leave normal school for alternative school or online school. They had to deal w/ the financial burden of a baby without having good educations to get well paying jobs. They had to quit fun things like dance team, cheer-leading, and partying to focus on motherhood.

Overall the show lets young girls who are already pregnant know that with the right amount of support they can be decent parents. But at the same time it warns young girls who aren't pregnant to protect themselves with safe sex or better yet abstinence so they don't wind up having to struggle like the teen moms on the show.

I really don't understand why you would think it's glamorizing teen pregnancy. The show is showing all the hardships and downs of having a baby at 16. The girls relationships go bad, they have hard times waking up in the middle of the night to feed the baby, etc.

    I like the show.

It's funny and gross at the same time how people look down on a teenage mom. They can be just as good parents at 16 than at 30. It's all about commitment and love. Open your minds people and stop being ignorant. The girls are not "ruining their lives" just because they have a baby at 16. It's going to be harder but a lot of teenage mothers pull through and are totally fine.

  • Its glorifying a growing problem in American today. Shows like these and Jon and Kate or the friggin Octomom prove that today having a kid (or several) in an unusual situation can make you famous, or at least get you on TV.

Sure, for a little while after their show airs they may get some gifts here and there, and some letters from people who think they are so strong and brave for what they are doing. Id like to see these couples 2 years later, and see how theyre rasing theyre kids and providing for them when they should be in college meeting new people and having fun, with having kids the last thing on their minds.

I like the show. it shows the reality of teen pregnancy.

especially how at 16 most guys are to immature or don't care

enough to care for a baby. It doesn't really make it seen acceptable

because it shows how peers at school make fun of and mock the girl that got pregnant.

I like it from what i have seen of it so far.I think it will show some teens that there is such a big responsibility that comes with getting pregnant at such a young age.

And i don't think that it glorifies it at all.Just showing the true facts of the responsibilities that come with teen pregnancy.

Maybe it will get some teens to think twice.

well, at first i thought this show would just make young pregnancy seem acceptable, like you said. but i guess if you watch like the whole episode, you can see how stressful and painful it is and it makes more young girls realize how it can really ruin your education and stuff. i mean thats not the only reason i like it, i just am into that reality stuff and its interesting to watch.

i agree w/ u. just a bunch of teenagers who rlly didnt have good enough parents. its 1 thing to get horny n have ur hormones hgih n want to have sex, bcuz every teen experiences that from time n time. n parents r a BIG influence. i think the show is interesting n i wanted 1 episode.

they should show more bad parts of being pregnant. n it WILL influence sum girls to have sex. unfortunately
