Why is it Liberals think racial discrimination is fine and conservatives think it wrong?

But the conservatives are the the ones always called racist. The case that was decided yesterday by the supreme court is a prime example of liberal racism. The white firefighters were denied promotions because they were white. 4 of the 9 justices didn't believe this was racial discrimination.

Update:

"They were denied raises because the test they took to gain those raises was deemed to have given an unfair advantage to white firefighters"

Sara, how does a test on job knowledge give an unfair advantage to white firefighters? That is always the argument when liberals don't like the results, so they change the rules in the middle of the game.

Discrimination is discrimination, regardless of the person it affects. Racism is racism regardless of the person it is aimed towards. The Supreme Court yesterday ran down ideological lines in the 5-4 ruling in favor of the firefighters.

Liberals were shown to be the ones practicing discrimination, stating that race was more vital to the needs of the firefighting community instead of the actual individual intelligence, experience, and quality. In other words, they felt that being black was a stronger qualifier than being a more knowledgeable and experienced firefighter. At least that is the case for New Haven. When the results came back, New Haven tossed out the results and denied those who EARNED their promotions the right to receive them. This case should be seen as both a landmark case against overall discrimination as well as a means to stop the use of quotas in today's job market (the city said that the percentage of blacks who needed to pass was not met, which insinuates that they wanted a select minimum number of black men to pass the exam; which did not even come close to happening).

The liberals who decided that color was a stronger benefit to saving lives than expertise and intelligence should be removed from their administrative offices and/or kicked out of their judicial duties. Their outlook on the entire situation is proof positive that liberals can be (and usually are) much more discriminatory than conservatives, yet are much less likely to even be called out on their viewpoint because of the mainstream media's support.

Side note: for anyone who didn't know this about the exam itself, New Haven ensured that the exam was "racially neutral", which means that race would not have any bearing on the results of the tests. New Haven's "racially neutral" test only exposed the fact that New Haven itself is not racially neurtral. The city's hypocritical actions only adds to the growing pile of evidence showing liberal bias and discrimination.

They were denied raises because the test they took to gain those raises was deemed to have given an unfair advantage to white firefighters. They sued instead of taking the new test that was fair. Perhaps they were scared they got lucky with the first test, and didn't want to risk failing the new one.

They didn't not get a raise because they were white, but because the test was thrown out. A black firefighter could just as easily lost his raise because of it.

Too often people defend "racism" when it is to correct or atone for past injustices. I find this wrong-headed. Everything should be made an even-playing-field and then let people prove what they have. I disagree with your thinking that only liberals can be racist! Many Republicans have been racist and defended racist policies...just look into the history of Jesse Helms or George Allen and Conrad Burns. The only difference is how they "justify" it.

Because when liberals do it it's called "leveling the playing field". I think it's a form of self hatred in certain people who think they need to feel guilty about something they have no personal responsibility for.

The rules have changed as of Jan. 2009.

Eh, it's complicated. It's obvious that racism is a problem in the US, and that's not going to change just cause we have a president who is biracial and a second generation immigrant.

Libs don't care who is "qualified" for a job, only that they are a certain color or gender or protected status.

Personally, I don't give a cr-p what color you are when you're saving my butt, but you better be the best there is to offer. I don't want to die to fill some dreamers "quota". We all got red blood...

    Got it?

Because they think that racism on white people is okay, because we cause all of the "problems", and we have wronged everybody.

    I'm glad they won though.

They simply think it is ok to discriminate against white people.
