Does anyone remember this movie?

I saw it on TV some years ago. In it, a woman's son is sentenced to be hung at 12 o'clock. On the same day as her son is sentenced to be hung she realises that her daughter has gone out to do jumps on a horse, something she is forbidden to do. The woman desperately runs to where her daughter is, trying to save her, but the girl is crushed under the horse exactly as the clock strikes 12, so both of her children die at the same time. It's absolutely awful, especially the way it is made so the awful bits are drawn out. In the end the mother loses her memory. I would be grateful if anyone could tell me the name of this film?
