Keeping your 3-mo-old occupied?
For all the stay-at-home moms, how do you keep your infant occupied at 3, 4, 5, or 6 months? My infant rarely naps or only catnaps. I can't get anything accomplished. Do you have toys you like? I don't like strapping her into the car every day. But w/o adult interaction, it's tough. My husband has been so, so generous with his time, and he's incredibly patient. But yet she's so alert and aware. (BTW, forget suggesting a sling. She absolutely loathed not being able to see around her.)

My son will be three months on the 5th of this month. He's the same way, a catnapper. No solid nap for me to get anything done. He's big for his age (16lbs) and has good head control so we put him in his exersaucer, or jumperoo, or bebepod (bumbo), or swing, or bouncer, or on his tummy time mat, etc. He has plenty of options other than being held constantly and he does just fine with them. Sometimes he gets fussy and we carry him around in our baby backpack thing (facing outwards) so he can walk around with us but still see to look around.

A swing, bouncer, walker, tummy time... Maybe buy a carrier and carry her around with you while doing the housework. Most of them allow you to put the baby facing outwards. There are also toys that can be strapped on the car seat that will keep her busy.

My soon to be 3 month old loves his Infantino activity mat. He bats at the toys and watches them sway & make noise. This keeps him occupied for 30-45 minutes at a time...allowing me to do some housework nearby in relative peace. It is also a joy to hear him coo and gurgle at his toys once he starts playing.
A swing works for me, but only when he is starting to get tired and begin to nod off.
I don't like putting my child in front of the tv, so I haven't done that...not to say it doesn't work for other people's children.

My 3 month old loves watching a baby einstein video. Different seats and kick toys are great. Lay her down on a blanket on the floor with toys surrounding her.

A bouncer seat, a swing, or try carring her in a sling or infant carrier and you can go about your day with her strapped to your chest.

Babies really like things with noise. My twins really like musical birthday cards, i just open it up and they're busy for an hour or so haha.
They also like teething toys, especially when you put them in the freezer and they get hard.

for me a swing was a life saver it has soothing motion, music & toys above her that kept her entertained( Fisher Price rainforest)
then when she starting sitting without support Pack n play is the solution

I carry my son in an Ergo baby carrier and he LOVES it! http://www.ergobabycarrier.com/
He is close to me and can see everything that is going on around him!
Another thing lots of babys love is an exersaucer which are suitable from about 4 months. http://www.toysrus.ca/product/index.jsp?productId=...

I bought swing for my son when he was around that age and it would calm him down. My 7 week old daughter likes it too. it rocks them to sleep so you can get things done.
