i got married back in january. more or less because of my busy schedule and his busy schedule, i have not been down to the secritartary state or the social sucurity office to change my last name.
this is my first time getting married.
i have the time today to go and get everything taken care of. but i have now had a couple people telling me that i was susposed to register my marriage license. the minister that married us, told us that she was going to send in the marriage license to the state. and i am sure that she did. was i susposed to do anything else... before i go to change my name?

In MS, the person marrying you registers the marriage license and only has a certain time frame to do it - otherwise he/she could get in big trouble.
You can probably double check with your Circuit Clerk's office (or whatever office where you are located handles marriage licenses) to make sure it is registered.
And you probably need a copy of the registered license to change your name and social security card anyway, so calling/visiting the clerk's office is probably the best idea :) GOOD LUCK!

No, take a certified copy of the marriage to your local social security office for them to change your name on the card then to the local dmv to change your license, once your license is change you can change all your other stuff ( insurance card, bank acct etc).
congrats
