Who can realistically afford LeBron James when free agency hits in 2010?
I've heard some people say "He'll get the most money in Cleveland", "He'll get the most money in NYC", etc etc...
In terms of salary, what team can offer the biggest contract? How large? $25 million a year? More?
In terms of endorsments, where will he earn more?
Your thoughts?
Thanks for the max contract bit. So if it's 21 million, the real issue is years and the team itself.
So we're looking at $105 million or more?

Cleveland can offer LeBron more money then any other team. Since he's already under contract to them, then can offer him a larger increase then any other team. They can also resign him without having to concern themselves with the salary cap. Any other team that wants to sign LeBron will either have to work a sign-and-trade with Cleveland, or have sufficient room under the salary cap to take on $20 million plus. As of right now, the only teams that look like they'll have room under the cap to bring in LeBron are the Knicks and the Pistons.
As far as endorsements, New York probably has the inside track there. However, a group of Chinese investors recently bought into the Cavaliers. They might be able to convince LeBron that they can market him more effectively in China, and that could mean huge amounts of money.

Technically, definite LeBron ought to pass to the Lakers and sign for the mid-point exception while he will become a loose agent in 2010. practically, there's no way it may take place. Kobe rode Shaq out of city by using fact he did no longer decide to share the spotlight. Do you somewhat think of he'd welcome LeBron onto the Lakers? yet another great participant to compete for interest and compete for photos? No way. As for the Knicks... yeah, the Knicks could have somewhat some cap area. in addition they have an proprietor and a supervisor who've controlled to interrupt the team for the previous decade. How does LeBron comprehend that the want no longer shop screwing issues up in spite of if he's on the team? LeBron could ok go searching in 2010 and are available to a decision his appropriate threat for a hoop is to stay with the Cavs.

There is a Maximum contract in the NBA of around 21 Million a year. So there will be several teams offering him that maximum. He gets more money in New York because of an increase in how much he gets payed by his sponsors, not the team itself, because NY is a bigger market than Cleveland.

Most likely NY. This team has been saving for Lebron for about 3-4 years. They have been clearing their cap room and trading away players like Crawford and marbury. Knicks are have the most money in the bank. You also have teams like minesota, looking for a superstar.
And there is no doubt that he will earn more in endorsements. He will get nike, vitamin water, spalding, and probably even more later on. That is why he is the King of basketball.

There's a max salary amount so he can't really break the bank with any team. I am pretty sure the Knicks have the most money to throw around for next year.

Cavs can offer the most money to him come the offseaon. Many of their contracts come off the books this offseason thus giving him more then enough in Cleveland and probably enough left over for another big name.

Just the New York Knicks. However, don't be surprised to see Lebron go to New Jersey, he's very good friends with Jay-Z, who's part owner of the Nets.

Olympiakos!! (jk)
I say the Cavs with that huge gaping hole in their salary cap once LeBron becomes a free agent. (if he ever becomes a free agent...)
