Can an experienced poker player tell me if you call a Royal Flush a Royal Straight?

I'm having an arguement with a friend over this. I tell him you can't call it a Royal Straight but he doesn't listen.

No. Royal flush is 10 J Q K A all same suit. A Strait Flush is any 5 cards in a row in the same suit. A Royal flush is never called a royal strait flush and I play cards alot both online and in public games.

10 - Ace of the same suit is called a royal flush. Any 5 cards in consecutive order of the same suit is called a straight flush. I never heard of a Royal Straight. That's the way I have always played anyways.

It's a Royal Flush or a Royal Straight Flush.

they are two different things. A royal flush is a 10 J Q K and Ace of the same suit. A Royal straight doesn't have to be the same suit.

An Ace High Royal Straight is the same thing as a Royal Flush.

So you are both right in a sense.

  • 1 decade ago

Almost everyone calls it a royal flush or just a royal.

It is automatically a royal straight flush by its very definition.

You are both right, but you are more right.

no. A Royal Flush indicates they are all the same suit. A straight is not the same thing.
