What would be the easiest way to level out a kitchen floor before installing ceramic tile?

We want to install ceramic tiles but our floor is really unlevel. It is currently covered with old laminate squares, like from the 60s. Is there an easy or inexpensive way to level the floor out? We just dont want to go through hell to do it, otherwise we'll have to come up with an alternative flooring.

Thanks!!

Easiest way would be to screw backer board down down and then mud to level.

I think you have to start with removing all the old flooring. Then it depends on what your floor is made of wood, cement and how bad it is.

You should ask where you plan on buying the tile.
