My computer will not open .doc files?

I have a high-quality Core 2 Dell computer using Vista. It seems that it can do just about anything. However, when people send me .doc files, I can download them but I can't open them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your going to need a program like Microsoft Word or Openoffice.org. One is free and the other isn't. download openoffice.org here > http://www.openoffice.org/

You can download a free trial of Microsoft Office 2007 from the official website here > http://us1.trymicrosoftoffice.com/product.aspx?sku...

Just click on the Download 60 trial button to the right

Sounds to me like you don't have Word installed (you most likely have/had just the trial version) so you can go to the Microsoft site and just download the Microsoft Word Viewer or buy Microsoft Office

My Microsoft Word was also not opening, I tried a lot to fix that but unable to fix. At last I got this link http://microsoft-office.customer-supports.com/ I just visited and made a call on their toll free. I got instant help from a certified technician to fix my MS Word problem.

You'll need software to open it. Microsoft Word comes with a price, but OpenOffice.org offers free support for them.
