I have to replace a 25 year old electric range that is hardwired with a new 40 amp 240 volt range that uses a modern 3-prong plug.?
I don't think the folks who deliver the new range will do this work as a routine installation. This leads to a bunch of questions:
Will I have to hire a licensed electrician to disconnect the old range and install a range receptacle for the new plug? About how many hours will this work require? How much will the parts cost for this work? (I will already have a 6 foot cord for the new range.) Can you give me an estimate of how much $$$ an electrician will charge for this work?
The bottom line is my income is low & I don't want to get ripped off by an electrician who will overcharge me for parts & labor.
I know these are a load of questions & you cannot give me exact answers for many of them. But any suggestions will help.
Thanks a lot for your advice!! I really appreciate it.

I don't think the folks who deliver the new range will do as a routine installation. This leads to a bunch of questions:
Will I have to hire a licensed electrician to disconnect the old range and install a range receptacle for the new plug? How complex a job is this? How many hours will this work require? How much will the parts cost for this kind of work? (I will already have a 6 foot cord for the new range.) Can you give me an estimate of how much $$$ an electrician will charge for this work? (I live in NYC.) Any suggestions on finding a good electrician who does not charge too much $$$?
I know you cannot give me exact answers for all these questions. But any suggestions will help. I do a lot of DIY work in my apt. But I am afraid to mess around with electrical work.
Thanks a lot for your advice!!
2 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)7 years agoHow can I send messages to multiple people (friends) on Facebook?
Should I post something on my wall and then somehow click on some FB option that sends my wall post to my friends? Should I type a message and then add different friends' names to the emails? There is probably a simple solution but I don't use FB very much, so I can't figure out what to do. Thanks!!
5 AnswersFacebook8 years agoWhere can I find a legitimate work at home job?
I don't expect to make $100,000 a year, but any leads to legit jobs or companies would be greatly appreciated. I am on Social Security Disability and allowed to make some money in addition to the tiny amount I get from SSD. Thanks!!
Other - Careers & Employment8 years agoHow can I burn DVDs using Windows Media Player or Media Center?
I can rip and then burn CDs very easily using WMP, but I can't figure out how to do this with DVDs. I can't find out how to add the DVD to My Library or My Playlist if this is what I need to do. The tutorials are not helping me, and I am obviously not a computer whiz. I used to burn DVDs and CDs so easily with a free trial version of Nero, but the trial version is over. Do I have to buy a new version of Nero or possibly Roxio to burn DVDs? Both companies are making it more difficult to download free trial versions. Thanks for your suggestions!
2 AnswersSoftware9 years agoThe way emails are displayed in yahoo has changed recently. How can I restore it to original format?
For many years, new emails in my inbox appeared first. Older emails appeared below, going onto page 2, 3, etc. if I didn't delete them. A week or two ago, that changed. What appears first in my inbox are ancient emails (several years old) that I chose not to delete. To get to my most recent emails, I have to scroll through pages and pages until I reach the beginning of the inbox.
Can anyone help me to restore my inbox to the way it worked so well for years? Clicking on various Yahoo options for email settings has not worked. Asking for Yahoo Help has, of course, not worked. Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks!!
1 AnswerNotices and Errors9 years agoFacebook Fans: How I do get rid of the huge list of people who want to be my friends?
I'm not talking about the small list of wanna-be friends in the right margin. Deleting those folks is easy. Just click on the small "x" in the upper-right corner. I am talking about the main list of hundreds or thousands of people I don't even know who want to be my "friends." I've tried left clicking and right clicking all over those pictures, but never see any method to delete the pictures ("friends"). By the way, the help in the FB Help Section did not help. So please help. Thanks!!!
1 AnswerFacebook9 years agoWhat is the best way to back up files? What is the best location on the computer to put backed up files?
My Norton antivirus program also offers me the opportunity to back up files automatically. But first it wants to know where to store the files. The recommended option is to store the files on a "secure online storage" because it has the fastest bandwidth throttle. Second option would be the C drive, and third option would be to store it in the D (recovery) drive. My D drive only has 2.4 GB of free space left. Last option is the E (CD/DVD) drive. Is it possible or recommended to store the back ups on a flash disk? I guess this is a very basic question for more advanced computer people. Thanks for your help.
5 AnswersOther - Computers9 years agoHas anyone tried Magic Jack, Vonage or other phone companies?
I am tired of paying large bills for my landline for just a few calls a month. Has anyone tried Magic Jack or other companies besides the big one (starting with the letter V)? Thanks a lot for your advice.
3 AnswersLand Phones9 years agoI have been attacked by iHAStarter.exe. This can make it difficult to get online. Can you help?
Turning the modem off for a while and then turning it back on helps. But it's just a temporary solution to a more permanent problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
1 AnswerSoftware10 years agoWhere can I find a good, but CHEAP, cell phone without a monthly contract?
My income is low and I just need a cell for occasional use. I know about assurancewireless for folks with a very low income. However, you have to pay $20 a month just to be able to text, and there's no web access. Is tracfone the best? I don't mind paying a small price for the phone, but I don't want monthly bills for the cell. All I need is to use voice and text occasionally, and web access would be a great bonus. Thanks for your help!

5 AnswersCell Phones & Plans10 years agoHow can I fix a computer that has slowed down dramatically?
Yes, I know this is a very basic computer question, but I have not all those things like defragging, etc. in many years. Can you give me a list of ways to speed up my PC or tell me where to go to get the info? Your help is GREATLY appreciated.

3 AnswersOther - Internet1 decade agoPlease recommend a good antivirus program for Windows Vista. Thanks.?
I have Malwarebyte Anti-Malware, which I hear is very good for malware. However, I just deleted an old antivirus program. Now my PC is sending me messages that I need an AV program. What's the best program at a reasonable (or even free) price? THANKS.
9 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoHow do I get rid of type that translates all the words I point to in my emails?
I have had this problem for a few weeks now, and it is really getting annoying. In all my emails, a "bubble" pops up with translations of any word my cursor points to. My email is in the right language, but the bubbles (borboteos) are driving me nuts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Gracias.

I have a high-quality Core 2 Dell computer using Vista. It seems that it can do just about anything. However, when people send me .doc files, I can download them but I can't open them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
