Differing consistency among formula brands?

We've been using Similac Advance and switched to Enfamil. The Enfamil appears more watery. Both were carefully made to direction. Is this the case?

Formula consistencies do vary not only by brand but also by type of formula. Enfamil vs Similac, Soy vs Milk-based, etc. It has to do with the chemical makeup and also the premixed consistency. Enfamil in its powder form is already a lot more "fine" so it mixes easily and therefore may seem watery.

I must also add that you did a good thing by switching from Similac. It lacks a lot of the nutrients found in the other brands and actually has HALF the DHA/ARA levels as Enfamil (plus was always harder on my babies tummy's). After having my second baby (while my oldest was still on formula), I discovered the Parents Choice brand from WalMart. I passed ot up for months because it was hard for me to believe that it was as good as the "good" stuff but after doing EXTENSIVE research, I found that it was indeed just as good as Enfamil and BETTER than Similac at half the cost.

Any who, not to worry, as long as you're off the Similac the better for your baby, if you'd like to save some money then I'd urge you to at least TRY the Parents Choice brand. I know it's hard to feel like you're giving your baby second best but you don't have to take my word for it, research it for yourself. You'll kick yourself for wasting all that money on the more expensive formula! Good Luck!!
