First of all, there is emphatically so such thing as 'before' the universe, since the dimension of time is not defined outside the universe.
As far as the very earliest stages of the universe, within the first few milliseconds after the Big Bang, the energy in the universe had not consolidated into particulate matter (protons and neutrons and such things), so light would not have been reflected or absorbed at this point. Thus, the universe would not have had a 'color' in the traditional sense.
On the other hand, the universe in its earliest moments radiated across the entire spectrum intensely, particularly in the very high-frequency regions. This is the cause of what is now known as the background x-ray radiation. In this sense, the universe would have been uniformly white, because it emitted radiation at all frequencies.
Good luck. =)

I think it was a beautiful rainbow.
Now let's sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"
music by Harold Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

If there were 7 birds on a tree and a redneck shot 1/2 how many birds are left? Look up dark matter that s what is between the galaxies and outside the universe

Absolute, total pitch black. No energy and mo matter, therefore no photons, unless there was another universe before, which is impossible to know.
But as far as we are concerned, it does not make one iota of a difference.
