Trip to the dentist on thursday and pregnant?

so i am off to the dentist on thurday monring for a filling - hopefully, got a toothache last night and made an appointment this morning. problem is well one.... i am terrified of the dentist and i mean terrified when i picked up the phone to make the appointment my heart was racing, just wondering do they treat pregnant women any different... they normally give me laughing gas to calm me down then the gel and then the injection to freeze, so nervousse about this that i will not sleep until i go. i know it seems silly but no matter what i think to myself i can't seem to overcome this fear.

Update:

i have had a baby already... be nice and realise i have a phobia and came for some advice and guidance

I'm pregnant and I've had serious dental issues in the past while (see my blog for all the gory details http://www.9moons.blogspot.com/ ) so I feel pretty confident in telling you that it's not that different than going to the dentist when you're not pregnant. I had 2 x-rays done (different days) and a cleaning and a filling. I first asked my OB and then my dentist about every step. They seem to know what they're doing. Most of the stuff they do, such as freezing the area, is all local and will not affect the baby. X-rays in general should be avoided, but if you're suffering then you should most definitely do them. I chose to wear two lead aprons instead of one. I found it reassuring. I don't know anything about laughing gas at the dentist, but I know that some places give it to you when you're in LABOR so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just keep speaking up if you need to while you're there.

Some things that will not be done are using laughing gas and prescribing certain medications. Also any x-rays will be kept to a minimum. Topical and local anesthetics will be used to keep you pain free. Seeing you are pregnant ,they will treat you with extra TLC. Don't worry about the appointment and good luck with the baby.

I think I am wondering if you can't handle a trip to the dentist how are you ever going to handle a trip to the delivery room??

I am little disappointed. I thought this was going to be a dentist getting you pregnant.
