My TV shows picture but all I hear is static?

When using the coax cable into the female receiver, I see the picture perfect, but only static comes out of the right speaker, the left is silent.

When I run the cable into a VCR and then run RCA cable out, it works fine, but the picture and sound quality is decreased, so I want to use the cable.

There is no cable box, it is straight hardwired. I have definitely narrowed it down to the TV causing the problem, not the cable.\

Is it as easy as replacing the cable receiver piece?

Any help is appreciated.
