Do you think the Pistons will be a contender next season?

I know the Pistons picked up Ben Gordon, but they also lost Sheed. With thalks about Hamilton possibly being traded, do think they can make a good run?

Update:

Lets not forget that they went to conference finals 6 years in a row before last season. Joe Dumars knows what he's doing.

Update 2:

But the Iverson and Billups trade was STUPID!!!

Well I know this is really a stretch but I would love to see the Pistons keep Hamilton and Gordon. But you are right, Hamilton and Prince both are trade possibilities. The Pistons are looking for a center right now, and both players could be used to acquire one.

I did also hear that the Pistons were willing to deal Arron Afflalo, Kwame Brown and a second rounder for Tyson Chandler. God I wish that had gone through.

Oh, and the Pistons are thinking about bringing last years draft pick, Deron Washington, back to the team after a good year in Europe last year.

IF the Pistons can re-sign Antonio McDyess and pickup even a decent center they will be a top 4 team in the East, and they could possibly make it past the first round.

nope the gm was a dumass why sign ben gordan when you have rip hamilton and ben gordan cant play d rip can and ben gordan is a one dimensial player but a very good one but the move was unnessesary and the pistons truly needed a star power foward like bosh or booxer and they sign charlie villuaneuanava i mean the guy is decent in terms of nba standards but has bad defense and isnt a star offensive player either so that was a terribly signing why not wait till 2010 let stuckey develop keep rip and tay and sign like a chris bosh or boozer you would have to land one then they could sign and trade for a decent centre chandler as a possibility see the gm just fuced the pistons up good they will now suck for sure next year why would joe dumars so this why.

They are going to be better but there is no way they can take out boston, orlando or cleveland in a 7 game series. I do think they will be much improved though and might contend BUT they are not true contenders yet like the 3 i mentioned

as a pistons fan you should be glad you lost sheed

im not a pistons fan but i watched the first round vs cleveland this year and all i saw was rasheed wallace jsut giving up on his teammates and not even trying. someone wanted an early vacation. you dont want a cancer like that in your locker room.

im glad hes bostons problem now.

atleast amir johnson and jason maxiell play their butts off. i see a season or two before they are contenders. they still need 1 or 2 more pieces. i think they will advance past the second round this year though.

I heard reports saying Rip, Jason Maxiell, the European second rounder we drafted, cash and 2nd round pick for Chris Kaman and DeAndre Jordan. Hopefully that's true.

Kwame Brown and Aflalo for Tyson Chandler. Hopefully that's true.

I think we should sign Chris Anderson or Zaza Pachulia.

Pray they trade Rip, he is way over paid for an average player.

With the team they have now Stucky, prince, Gordon, CV, Rip, I think they will make the playoffs, but they will not compete with Boston or Orlando.

To me they are going to be the same if not worse than last year. Ben Gordon shooting like crazy=Iverson and Villanueva is not better than Rasheed.

  • Nope they will be the same team. They lost Sheed and gained Randolph. They lost Iverson but gained Gordon.

No even though rasheed was your achilles heal you still lose veteran leadership assuming that Mcdyess and RIP go to another team 6th seed in eastern confrence at best

A few more guys and 2 seasons should do it. then they will be top 3 teams in the east
