Hi there,
Those little seeds might be tapeworm segments. They appear like little grains of rice.
Here is an excellent article on tapeworm.

You really need to take your cat to your vet and have his stool checked out, and those little "seeds" examined.
Fleas carry tapeworm, and can transmit the worm to the cat. This is a condition that needs to be treated by your vet after a diagnosis is made.
Your vet can also diagnose if this is something else.
Good luck with your parent's cat. Most cats are very "cool", actually.

If she has fleas and is leaving little bits around that look like uncooked rice, then yes... she has tapeworms. Treat the fleas with Frontline or Advantage and keep it up once a month for AT LEAST three months. Treat the tapeworms with an OTC dewormer that targets tapeworms specifically. It will be the most expensive one of the dewormers since most of the cheaper ones only target roundworms and/or whipworms. You must do BOTH in order to get rid of the worms.

Those would be tapeworm segments! Time to make a trip to the vet for a deworming and flea treatment. Don't even bother with the over the counter wormers, as most of them will not even begin to touch tapeworm (it will only be killed bt Drontal).
