30 Gallon Tank Stocking Question?

have a 30 gallon hex tank (2 ft. tall.) In the tank I currently have 10 neon tetras, 5 glo fish, 5 black skirt tetras, 2 swordtails, 2 yo yo loaches, and an african butterfly.

We would like to have a bigger school of neons and maybe a few more glo fish, but don't want to risk overstocking the tank.

My question: can we get more neons and glo fish, and if so, how many?

I wouldn't, you're pretty stocked as it is.

for starter people i suggest going by the ! in;. of fish for every gallon of water rule, because this rule is what real people out side of yahoo answers use. Yes u have a lot of fish, all though if u do 15%-20% u can add more fish as long as u keep up with the weekly water changes. i say if u do the water changes u can add a total of 6 more fish. http://www.ehow.com/video_4439079_mixing-fish-bree...

Source(s): http://www.ehow.com/video_4439079_mixing-fish-bree... she has 86 fihs in a 30 gallon tank, she is a real expert, and more of her fish started off as babies that were born in the tank. she makes up for it by doing 75% water changes weekly, all though i think thats to much water, but u can learn from her videos cause thats how i learn about fish keeping is from her. also i dont follow the 1 in. of fish per gallon rule, i go above it and my fish are just fine.

I wouldn't get no more fish you are stocked as it is remember the 1in of fish per gallon of water you are curently about 25 in and may be more in time with what you have now

Of course, the more the merrier! :-) You can get as many more as you want.

Source(s): I have a 10 gallon aquarium with 5 bala sharks, 3 oscars, 60 shrimp, and 3 zebra danios and they are doing pretty good.
