This is very important to me. I want to know your opinion.?

I am a christian. I want people to know that. I have not gone to church since I was like 9. I do not think I will go to hell because I do not go to church. I wanted to say that before I ask my question.

I believe that all the prophesis in the bible will come true in some ways I want to see them, in others I realize if I do then I am not a true believer in Christ.

Athiests what do you think is going to happen at the end of the world?

And christians do you think that to be a christian you have to bellieve in everything in the bible or can you agree with some things and disagree in others? I hold steady to my beliefe, now tell me, what is yours?

if this is really important to you, please let me refer you to one philosopher who is one of those great thinkers, and he will answer many of your question about christianity,

His name is Soren Kierkeegard. And his most important work is called "Fear and trembling".

He is one of those thinkers who actually had a real impact in my life. And I hope you don't mind me telling you about it.

I was raised a christian, my family was, and still, very devout. But somewhere along the way I lost my faith. It's what philosophers call "the problem of evil". This was before I had read any philosophy whatsoever apart from the bible.

Somewhere in my teens I started watching the news more closely and also these documentaries about Africa and all the suffering people go through over there. I saw how children of about 3 of 4 years old had to be amputated without anesthesia because of leprosy. I heard them screaming, And I got really pissed, I got so pissed that without the aid of any philosophy I refused god right then and there. I actually bent my knees and damned him to hell. I told him that I don't care if he is real or not, or if I'll go to heaven or a hell. I just knew that I could never praise an all-powerful being that allowed this kind of thing.

I started reading philosophy and I felt enlightened. Well, I became an Atheist and I'm still one.

This is where Kierkeegard comes along.

After reading volumes of philosophy, at one time I was feeling like I've found the true meaning of life. But then, time was passing by and I wasn't so sure about my idea of truth. I started reading Kierkeegard and first of all, the guy is a genius, so he is not talking BS. He tells about how he chased every kind of life in search of serenity, peace of mind or something bigger. And in the end he finds out that only a leap of faith, and the believe in god will truly make you happy. It's kind of hard to articulate this as he did.

But let me tell you, after reading his book is not like he converted me back to christianity but in spite of my strong convincions. He is the only one so far who made me doubt my atheism.

And maybe If I grow older and still feel unhappy with my perception of the world. I will turn to his writings and try to be happy taking a leap of faith.

That's fine. You can cherry pick the Bible if you want. Many Christians do. Whatever floats your boat I guess....just know that it's hypocritical.

Anyways, unlike religion, I don't claim to actually know how the world will end, or what will happen. It could end with a nuclear war, hopefully not. Another possibility is that a giant asteroid strikes the Earth, and ends life like it did with the dinosaurs. However, if none of those happen, the sun will eventually start running out of steam, and it will start expanding as it gets older and older. The Earth will get swallowed up by the sun basically, and the planet will be no more.

This is a huge question. And I completely agree with you in many ways as I am not a church go'er either. I think that Christianity is a much more personal thing than standing up at the front and looking good or even publicly confessing my sins. It is in the heart. As for the stories in the book , I believe they were God inspired but that they were also compromised by man (or ancient tax collectors) to some degree. Most are beautiful stories with very important messages in them and that it doesn't matter as much how true they are as the messages themselves. Jesus always made up parables to put his point across.

I used to be an atheist but as I aged I have seen too many incredible things to believe in coincidence any more.

We are here and we were created. No one can deny that. And there is more going on inside of me than electric impulses. To think otherwise is just plain silly!

As for the end , as much as I have learned to accept life on its own terms , I hope that eternity is nothing like this life.

    Nice question.

I label myself as christian yet I don't believe everything in the bible, just the main things that Jesus said (Isn't that the main point of Christianity anyways?)

I mainly pay attention to the gospels of Matthew and Mark, I don't pay as much attention to Luke or John for a couple reasons. John is far too confusing for any first time readers whose details don't add up with any of the other gospels, and Luke stresses a importance on characters that are never really heard of much in the other gospels.

I don't refer to the bible much (except to use it against a theist.)

I do believe that the prophesies will come true as Jesus said, although it doesn't seem like it will happen for a while, remember to watch out for false prophets.

I personally believe that religions have formed for many reasons. Many were founded in order to create a body of law believed enforceable by a higher power to ensure survival. Some evolved out of philosophical or interpretative differences in doctrine. Others occurred in response to events that were inexplicable. Given mankind's hierarchal nature in his social order, the concept of a deity is easily accepted. Whether through religious belief or social conscience though, a moral compass that focuses on compassion continues to benefit mankind. Will the world end some day?...possibly. If so, does a log that has burned out really go away or simply change in composition?

To be a true christian you have to believe the Bible and you have live the word. You can not do something wrong then confess then do the same thing again. You must live your life as closest to what the Bible says. Actions speak louder than words.

The end of the world will occur when the sun expands and consumes the planet. Luckily, we'll all be living on other planets around other stars by then.

There are no mystical trumpets and seven headed beasts. just a lifetime of 40-hour work weeks and national debt. It's a special hell all its own.

I don't believe any humans will be around at the end of the world. I believe all humans will have gone extinct by the end of the world. I believe all life on Earth will probably have gone extinct by the end of the world. Perhaps there will be some microscopic form of life still around. As for as the end of the world for me when I die will be the end of the world for me as well as the end of everything in existence.

I am not a christian and not an atheist so you apparently do not want my opinion, which is good because your question was gibberish.
