Do you think we need any Constitutional Amendments to further restrain government?
I'm in favor of repealing the Commerce Clause and the Necessary and Proper Clause of Article One Section 8 and the 16th Amendment. I'd also like to revise the 10th Amendment to read, "The powers not specifically delegated to the United States by the Constitution by Article One Section Eight, are reserved to the States, or to the people."

Hockey Mom : 3 Problems with your answer
1.) I am an Agnostic
2.) Slavery is outlawed by the 13th Amendment
3.) Women's voting rights are protected by the 19th Amedment.
If you ever read the Constitution you would know that!
Hockey mom : Jim Crow Laws violate the 14th Amendment as well.
The Market has not been a "Free Market" Since 1913. The Federal Reserve was given the power to control interest rates and a monopoly over the money supply. Since the Federal Reserves inception, the dollar has lost 95% of it's purchasing power.

yadda yadda. More "states rights" crypto-racist, lolbertarian BS that you all love to w@nk to. How many times have i heard this. why even bother with the run around? just state that your fantasy constitution would allow for the reenactment of jim crow laws, denial of woman's suffrage, and denial of civil liberties to people that aren't rich, white, heterosexual, English-speaking Christian males, like yourself
and the slavery of people of poverty/lower class to the rational actors and john galts of the SUPER POWERFUL FREE MARKET

The 16th is all about the corporations being responsible for paying taxes, NOT the citizens. I think we need to enforce that one a bit better.
But you can kiss all of these thoughts good bye b/c you would need to ask the govt to open the Constitution and they are afraid to do that b/c then the evil-doers will get in there, supposedly, and make things worse. Like instituting things like the Man/Woman marriage proposal and you'll be opening it up to the Christians and everyone else who wants to make changes. The Constitution needs to be protected at all costs. The govt is already ignoring it very handily and we need to get them to start paying more attention to it.
The govt right now is like a run-away train with no brakes heading down a mountain track. There's no stopping it now. THAT needed to be done back in 1960. No body cared back then so now we have the govt we have ... no one to scold but ourselves. You may say you weren't born yet back then but people today are just as complacent as people were back then. Everyone expects the govt to clean its own messes. IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN.
The govt is here to get bigger adn take everything over and mess up the whole planet without reservation.
But good luck with that. Let me know what your Senators and Congresspeople have to say about that. Jay Leno will finally have something with which to replace the Bush-jokes.
Please don't think that I'm picking on you ... it's just that we tried all this stuff 50 years ago and it didn't work then and the govt has grown twice as strong since then so we no longer have a snowball's chance at this point.
Peace

I am an Australian therefore Iam not conversant with much of your Constitution. However,it would be futile to contemplate any Amendments to a document that in frequently violated by almost every politician, some judges, and many presidents, including Comrade Obama.
In Australia all politicians violation our Constitution.Comrade Bob Hawke violated the Constitutional requirements of a Federal Member of
Parliament. There is enough data available to support the claim that Comrade Obama did not comply with Constitutional requirements od a
candidate for the Presidency.I reiterate,a president can violate the Constitution with immunity, what is point of considering any Amendments,if they will be violated?

no what we need is a government that follows what is in it,changing it won't matter they don't follow it now. simply test,if it was required the government in 1787 would have provided it,if it was proper then it is proper now, only things changed were slavery, income tax voting rights ,alcohol and the direct vote of senators, all this other BS is a farce the constitution's meaning does not change except by amendment
hey lord, the bill of rights does not give us those rights ,God does, the bill of rights recognizes those rights, even without the 2nd amendment those rights exist. please learn about the constitution before making such an ignorant statement

Yes. Repeal the 16th.
Add term limits for congressmen, budgets must be balanced, no tax can last more than 5 years without approval by the people...

No we have about all we need but citizens just sit, play dumb and beg government to control ever more of their lives. They don't use the power they have now to bring government back under their control. More authority wouldn't be used either.
They are largely spoiled and sheltered little children in adult bodies. They want a mommy government to care for them. I'm afraid they are no longer capable of running their own lives.

I agree and I'd like to see the electoral college eliminated and a line item veto in place, so that presidents would be held accountable for the pork out of congress, and repela the income tax amendment

YES, DUDE. **** the government. They're not doing anything we want them to do and they're taking control of everything. I definitely think that we need Constitutional Amendments to further restrain government.
