brightening up a table?
I have a big old table. The top seems to be finished with some thick, shiny finish, like enviro-tex. Its pretty dull and scratched up. I'm thinking there has got to be some product I can buff into it with a rag to make it look nicer. Any recommendations?

It does sound like polyurethane but you could try Min-Wax. Find a color that is closest to the color of the top. Rub in with a lint free cloth. The scratches will absorb some of the stain but if it is urethane then the rest will not. It would shine it up a bit but you must be sure to wipe and re-wipe until nothing shows on you cloth. This is a fairly easy fix but should be done with the sanding as recommended by " wardawg"

sound like someone use a polyurethane to surface the table, I usually like to do these things from square one to make sure i get a brand new looking surface, you can start by sanding the surface with 60 grit sand paper down to 80, 100, 220, you want to do this with an orbital sander- ( don't use a belt sander ), after you've sanded and wiped the dust you can add stain, or varnish with a rag and it let set for a day before coating the surface with a couple of coats of wood wax to give you that beautiful shiny finished surface
