Where do the nutrients and vitamins in Silk soy milk come from?

In the great debate between normal food consumption and veganism, constituents of the first group claim that there are deficiencies of calcium, B12, and other important nutrients in the diets of vegans and vegetarians. I drink Silk light chocolate soy milk and checked out the nutrition information (found here: http://www.thedailyplate.com/nutrition-calories/fo... ) and noticed that there are many nutrients in it, specifically calcium and B12. I am curious if they are derived from plant or animal sources.

Silk soy milk products are vegan.

The company's website states in their FAQ, "Are Silk products vegan?

Yes, completely! There are no animal derivatives in our products. The lactic acid and live cultures used in Silk Live! soy yogurt come from a vegetable source. All vitamins used to fortify Silk soymilk are also vegetable-derived. The calcium used to fortify Silk soymilk comes from limestone. "

They are vegan, like EatYourVeggies said, its says so on their FAQ. All the vitamins can be derived from plant sources, it's just that some of them aren't things most people every day, like the B12 in Algae and Spirulina, but these plant sources are excellent for vitamins because it's easy to obtain and you can get a lot of the vitamin out of them. A lot of the minerals that fortify foods come directly from a rock of that mineral. Calcium is often obtained this way and I've even heard that it's more easily absorbed than the calcium in dairy products.

Some probably come from the soy its self, but not in large enough quantities. Which is why Silk soy milk is fortified. Meaning, vitamins are put in there by man. The vitamins that are put in the silk soy milk are probably synthetic vitamins as it cost to much to extract vitamins from natural sources.

They are of plant origin.I was curious about that too.On the website FAQ it states their products are vegan.Additionally, one time I checked the carton and it said 100% Vegan, and it also specified that the vitamins were vegan as well.
