Is SMS the same as standard text messaging?

I'm trying to set up my phone on twitter, but I'm not sure if I can use my regular cell phone. Do I need a smart phone?

No, you don't need a smartphone. SMS is the technical name for text message. It stands for short message service. I update my twitter with my LG Rumor (not smartphone) and have no problems with it.

SMS and a standard text message are the same thing. SMS stands for Short Message Service. You may be getting confused with MMS which is Multimedia Messaging Service which allows a short message adn optional picture and sound to be sent.
