Does this sound like a scam to you?
Alright so my husband and I were looking on craigslist. We are trying to find a house. We came upon an add where this woman had a house in New Mexico that she was leasing out. It was a 4 bedroom house, fully furnished for 700 a month including utilities. She was going to be gone for about 5 years. Everything was going great, we were very interested. I mean c'mon that's too good to be true, right? So this woman tells us without ever meeting us that she would rather us live there out of everyone else that was interested. We had only exchanged two emails, how would she know. She asked for three references which she never called and now she's asking for us to wire 1,400 to her account for the house before we get anything?
This just sounds so very suspicious, what would you do? What is your opinion?

Speak to your attorney to see if you can find proof of ownersip from this person before you wire money to her.

First of all this sounds way to good to be true! Secondly if this woman is for real she sounds too trusting of you guys. My gut instincts say it not geniune. I would not transfer any money. I would want to meet the woman and see the house before I did anything. But best stay clear I would say!

Follow the golden rule: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
This also sounds like the 'OmGz I got 1.4million from a deceased relative but need $xxxx to withdraw it from the bank, wire me that money and I'll share the spoils' scam.
Craigslist is iffy I would avoid this transaction.

hi, firstly i would check out her story, ask her where she is going for five years(could be prison for previous scams ) only joking, but seriously ask her and if she is genuine, then she will answer you without any problems, also can you get any information on this woman? any back ground?

You should never give money away like this without having some sort of contract. This SCREAMS "Scam" to me.
