Why don't atheists believe in an afterlife?
They can't prove there is nothing?
It's just that they are constantly asking for proof of this or that, but they believe there is no afterlife without any proof?
Grimfand:Why should we have to prove something when you’re the one making the negative statement?

An afterlife is generally inconsistent with atheist beliefs. That is why.

You can't prove there is something - which is much much worse for you.
Why should we have to prove something when you're the one making the positive statement? Please Google 'burden of proof' and find it's meaning.
Edit: Lol, what you said makes no sense! It's expected that the person making the positive statement has to prove why they believe something to be true, i.e. the burden of proof is on you because you're saying that there IS a god.
If I told you that there was an invisible elf sitting on my head, then I'd have to prove to you why I believed that instead of demanding you give me reasons why you didn't believe it was there.
See? It's very easy to understand when you apply it to the whole god thing. When you give us substantial and inescapable proof that he/she is real, we will believe. Until then - No.

After-life concepts were invented by priests to placate peasants' FEARS about death.
AND OR …
2.
The soul and after-life concepts were invented by priests for the sake of power.
A priest could inflict all manner of pain on a peasant; the peasant always knew he could escape into death.
BUT when the priest could threaten the peasant's soul with the everlasting torture of hell ... now, THAT was the REAL power - the ultimate management tool.

I can NOT choose to 'believe in' something I find absolutely ridiculous and no more than superstitious nonsense peddled by parasites with an agenda.
At the top of that agenda is to relieve me of my money and enslave me.
4.
I'm not into submission.

We don't have to prove that there is nothing. We're not the ones making the claim that there is something. The burden of proof lies with you.
