Is he purebreed?? - Yorkie owners plz!! :O?

Well on my birthday, i got a yorkshire terrier ( 4 months ) for my bday present. We bought him for a rather cheap price ( btw he's not a teacup or whatever which i heard dosn't exist or sumthing ) and he was cheap because the pup was sold from this family to the pet store.. ( hope it makes sense ) and we haven't seen his parents or anything but the vet said he was a purebreed yorkie. He got all his shots before and like they gave us this pet passport thing that had a record of the shots.

But then, eversince i brought him home, my mom's keep saying that he is not purebreed and thinks he is a mix. And now, i kinda think so too because he is quite big for a puppy he is about 25 cm in height

Is 25 cm like really tall for a 4 month puppy or is it just big cause my yorkie is just the standard size.. and i'm afraid he's gonna get even bigger when he gets older..

What is REALLY the average/ standard size of a yorkshire terrier?? ( not the teacup ones )

Update:

for more info,

he is about 5 lb, around 2 kg

and i heard he was cheap because he was not actually bred from the pet store but another breeder and was just sent to the pet store.

i kind of thought that he might be a silky terrier too..

If he's from a petstore, he may be purebred but he's definitely not well bred.

Dogs from petstores rarely are good examples of the breed as the puppy mills that provide puppies to the store really quite frankly don't care.

Are you sure the dog is actually 4 months old?

The biggest yorkie I have seen is maybe about 30cm tall at full grown.

He may be a mix or he could be a Silky Terrier, they are often mistaken for yorkies.

Silky's are usually around 10 pounds and about 10 inches at the shoulder full grown.

Or he could just be a mixed Yorkie or an abnormally large one.

A full grown normal yorkie is 20-23 CM full grown.

If you're happy with him, I wouldn't worry about it.

The yorkie standard addresses weight not height. Also there is no way to be sure if he's a purebred or not. Looking like a yorkie doesn't make him purebred. You bought him from a questionable source.

Yorkies only have ONE size and that 7 pounds and under.

Since you got him from a pet store he could be purebred but a very ill-bred one.

Standard Yorkies are no more than 7lbs full grown and about 17 cm tall.

I got a 3 month old yorkie, and he is 8 inches tall (from floor to top of midback). His mom was 6 lbs. His dad was 7 lbs. and he is already 6 lbs. It's hard to tell what size they will be. However I think *if* it was a purebred they would have given you papers on it.

pure bred is a legal term, and requires registration and a pedigree to be used. This is a buyer beware, you get what you pay for, and even if your pup has two yorkie parents, they probably aren't best specimens of the breed. Love your pup, and enjoy him for who he is.
