i had two americans housed with three english. the two americans were best friends forever and would pick on the other birds, pull their tail feathers, wings, monopolize perches. it was strange.
another strange thing...the female would masturbate on one of the toys.

Yes, you can house them together. English budgies tend to be a little calmer than the American budgie. They are also a little bigger than the American budgie. They can be compatible. It's also possible to breed them, if you're interested in breeding.
