If you read the Sookie Stack house books, did you like True Blood as well?

I've read all the Sookie Stackhouse books and just finished watching season 1 of True Blood on DVD. I don't know quite what to think.... I loved the books but I'm undecided about the show. What do you think?

YES! I love the fact that they are totally deviating from the books, so the story is a total surprise. Also, the casting is terrific -- some of the characters are better than what I pictured in my mind: Bill, LaFayette, Sam, Jason, and Andy Bellefleur, in particular. I also really like that they developed Tara and LaFayette into major characters of color; it's nice that we have diversity not only between humans and supes but also among the humans themselves.

I have my beefs with the show, of course. The Amy character (Jason's GF) was supremely hateable and unsympathetic and the actress was dreadful. Really, was she there for any purpose but to have graphic sex?

Season 2 is off to a good start. I'm sticking with it. I like the Jessica story line, and I like that they've made Jason the FOTS recruit instead of Arlene. I'm kind of hoping Bill and Sookie stay together for a while, but I saw on the HBO site that Lorena, Bill's maker, will be joining the show this season.

Source(s): PS-have you read Dead and Gone? AWESOME. PPS-I agree with Lisa -- the Harper Connelly books are great. Creepy as hell. The Aurora Teagarden books are OK. The Lily Bard books are a little heavy handed and my least favorite of Charlaines' books.

I love the series, I'm enjoying season two also.

But I don't much like the books. I read the first two, but I'm actually not even certain I finished the second. I think the antics of Laurel K Hamilton's Anita Blake bored any interest in the woman/vampire, mystery to be solved type of formula.

I very much like Charlaine Harris's other books though, particularly the Harper Connelly books. http://www.charlaineharris.com/bibliography/biblio...

I love both :) I've only read book 1 of the series so far, I have the second book but I'm waiting for the others to be re-printed with a cover I like better.. the original cover art sucks, to be honest. Soo yeah. I love them both! :)

i could like somebody to respond to that as nicely. I first examine the books whilst they first got here out then i grew to become into so excited whilst they got here out with a television coach yet i grew to become into fully at a loss for words simply by fact it is not something like the e book. i assume they could replace it to maintain human beings guessing.

Absolutely. It's different from the books, but in a good way. I enjoy both for different reasons, but I definitely enjoy them.
