Brandon Jacobs vs. Tony Romo?

Giants running back Brandon Jacobs took some shots at Tony Romo recently; saying "he's not that good of a passer".

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/07/09/ja...

Do you think this was a classless act? Will it give the Cowboys some added incentive this season?

Or does playing with Eli Manning make Jacobs an expert on such matters (lol)?

Update:

EDIT: I agree, Ambassador. I would rather have Shaun Hill as well. Eli is overrated; Hill is underrated. I believe Hill is 7-3 as a starter.

Brandon Jacobs just answered my question on how intelligent he really is. I just don't see how he can judge negatively against Tony Romo when his QB is Eli Manning. If Romo isn't good then Manning is just plain horrible then. I wouldn't mind having Tony Romo as my QB, but I would definitely NOT want Eli Manning as my QB. I am more content with Shaun Hill, so that should tell you a lot.

Thumbs up to those who agree.

  • This is a typical Brandon Jacobs like thing to say. I guarantee you also, if Tony Romo was playing with a less big name team like the Bills or Dolphins, this kind of sledging wouldn't happen. This could be viewed as divisional rivalry and a bit of 'good fun' before the season starts. But as we all know, these things often get blown out of proportion by the media and I don't understand why professional athletes even bother saying anything in the first place. Whether it was a classless act or not, it doesn't really effect anyone on either team. It's just some words being exchanged, and when it comes down to it Brandon Jacobs will look worse than Romo will when it all comes to an end.

On the other hand, like you said it could give Romo some motivation to go out there and prove everyone wrong including Jacobs. I assure you that that statement will be in the back of Romo's mind when they play New York next season.

When the 'Boys sweep the Giants this season we will look back on this and laugh. Perhaps Jacob's words express concerns in NY that the Cowboys are getting serious and removed all the distractions from the team.

Honestly I would like someone on the Cowboys get up there and defend Romo and show a little unity in the locker room. I don't think this will have any benefit motivation wise to Romo because he doesn't seem to let anything bother him.

obviously, playing with Eli, has made Brandon an expert. He knows that great quarterbacks, wear a BIG ring. Romo, hasn't even managed a playoff win yet. Jacobs, was just giving His honest opinion.

i he COWBOYS, haven't aquired any "incentive over the past 14 seasons, I seriously doubt that a comment from an opposing running back (even one of Jacobs great stature), will make much difference either. and, how many rings does Hill have? great quarterbacks, show their greatness in different ways. Eli's team, are SUPER BOWL winners. once You are in the BIG game, nobody cares what You did the rest of the season. to make this rivalry even better, this season the GIANTS, get the honor of being the first team to DUMP the COWBOYS in their own stadium.

it is completely classless and he should not have said it (even though its true), as a professional, but theyre division rivals and are supposed to hate each

it wont give the cowboys any incentive to do better, they know already that they are a team loaded with high quality players and romo (at HB, they have three guys that could be 1000 yard rushers if they were the #1 back and felix could break 1500) and they didnt even make the playoffs, they already know they need to do better

He's not that good of a passer. Jacobs needs to stay healthy if he wants to be a decent rb this season.

I agree with banter as stated above.

    It is just divisional banter.
