Will insurance cover the abortion pill?
I've already made my decision so don't try to instill your beliefs on me. I just want to know if insurance will cover it.
I find it ignorant and ridiculous when people jump to conclusions and always play the contraceptive card. Contraceptives don't always work! People become pregnant on the pill, dui, and other methods. Until you are in my shoes should you judge.
To those out there who choose to judge: People care so much about abortions but don't care about what happens to the children once they are born! Instead of judging go out and help poverty-stricken children, children of drug addicts, abused children, neglected children. I will not bring a child into the world that I cannot take care of. FYI not all birth control is 100 percent effective! And if it happened to me it can happen to anyone.

It depends on your insurance, to be sure you would have to call them ask about the plan and have and find out if it was covered. Planned Parenthood can usually do it for you for 50 - 300$. If you answer all the financial screening questions right, it can be very cheap. Say you have no money, no job and no support; my girlfriend didn't have anything but was still able to get her abortion and she only paid 100$.
If you have more questions or need to talk, email me. I don't judge because I've been there and done that.
~Pro-Choice Momma; Have had an abortion <no regrets> and I have a 7 month old daughter <no regrets>. I believe in protecting my daughter's choice.

Edit: Some state medicaid program do pay for it, use this link and figure out if your state covers it. If they do, you can go to "welfare" office and get emergency coverage and the state and taxes will pay for it. Good luck!

EDIT: PASSIONATE PRISSY - If I grow a brain and heart can I give you some because you sound ignorant and heartless yourself!
Birth control fails more often than you think, just because it didn't fail for you doesn't mean it doesn't happen!
EDIT: CORBEN9904 - So I guess you have never had sex because it is fun? You only have sex for procreation, huh? Again you have no idea what the Asker's situation is, so please refrain from making yourself look like an idiot and examine the whole picture would you?
EDIT: BRANDI - Just because you have had trouble with your own pregnancy does not condemn another women to forced motherhood, that would be tantamount to slavery! I am truly sorry about your issues but they are yours not the Askers! And by the way adoption is not cheap and there is a higher incidence of post-adoption depression than post-abortion depression! Adoption is expensive not just monetarily but emotionally as well, not just for the bio mother but for that child later on also.

No one should judge you. We live in America for a reason as a women has the right to choose.
Some insurance companies will cover the cost of the abortion pill or to be politically correct the "medical abortion". This depends on where you live, where you choose to do the procedure, and how the medical office opts to file the claim. This procedure is a quick office visit as the insertion is usually done at home.
Hope this info helped you out. Good luck
Army Wife, you're getting thumbs down b/c your so delayed that u dont now there is an "abortion pill".
One does not need to be pro-choice to know this. Please read more often!!!!!!!!

In many cases, average insurance will not. However, you can apply for Emergency Pregnancy Services at a Medicaid office and they will try and cover as much of the cost as they can to compensate for what your insurance doesn't cover. However, I highly suggest calling your health insurance company to ask them specifically. Good luck and salud.
To the answers above: a) Planned Parenthood does NOT cover the cost of an abortion, whether it be medical or surgical; b) yes...there is: Mifepristone and Misoprostol
EDIT: I wholeheartedly agree with your additional details. It's refreshing to see someone who is educated and informed on this site; I find it so rare.
EDIT: To the person below, YES, Medicaid CAN and WILL cover it. How do I know? Because they covered mine and have covered the costs for women I have counseled.

Insurance companies will pay for ANYTHING to save them a buck. I'm not sure how much the abortion pill costs, but I imagine it's quite a bit cheaper than a $15,000 delivery and hospital stay. Your best bet would be to call the customer service # on the back of your card and ask.

You should have thought about the possibility of becoming pregnant before pulling your pants down. You should have been on birth control of some sort. I agree with another person who said that abortion is "murder." The least you could do is have the baby and put him/her up for adoption. There are so many people out there that would love to have a child and can't, yet, there are people like you who want to play but don't want to pay. I think you are a very pathetic individual and I feel so sorry for that unborn child who asked for none of this.

No insurance I now of will cover it.
And to the person who says get emergency medicaid, I'm on it and you only apply if you are pregnant for your doctor appointments, not to go get an abortion pill.

Yes it does. It will also cover a surgical abortion, if you are to far along for a medical abortion (pill) which they won't give you after 6 weeks.

You know you should be in my shoes right now where they cant find the baby all they see is the sac. I would give anything to have a baby. I already have two and i want more but now that I found out I was pregnant I went to the dr and they said they see the sac but no baby. So why don't you just have the baby and give it up to someone that really wants it. Because you have to pay for abortions out of pocket.

Know what, we seriously do not like reading about irresponsible and pathetic women posting abortion crap in the pregnancy section. We all happen to love our babies very much and hate it when women like you just want to murder theirs!
Have you ever heard of a phone and a phone book?!? Why don't you call someone who can actually help you! Did you ever think about that?
Grow a brain! And a heart!
Source(s): Save your pathetic bullsh*t for people that actually care. My b/c NEVER failed me once. I only got pregnant when it was unprotected. So I don't understand how yours did. You should of used it correctly. And now your pregnant. And now your going to just murder your unborn child. Sorry there is no excuse in this world good enough for you to be getting an abortion. You had sex, you knew that you could get pregnant but you still did it anyways. If your b/c failed you like you said, then hopefully you will choose to become celibate because to me that is the only option there is for you. You can't just start killing your kids because its not the right time.
