Why would one feel proud of doing something for a friend?

Pride has nothing to do with it. If a friend is in need, isn't a friend there for that friend?

I like to help my friends because I want to show them that they can trust me. I want to be that good friend for them, because I never had a true friend before...everyone wouldn't be their for me or would use me.

This question will not have a "best answer" because everyone has their different reasons for helping a friend. People do it out of respect, pity, and yes, pride. Some people do it because for some reason, it makes them happy. And some people are like me; they want to provide for others what they didn't have but wished so much they did.

In some cases, friends aren't always there...sometimes, they are too scared to risk their life (social life, etc.) for another friend. That's when they are not a true friend.
