Why do Republicans always root against Democratic Presidents?

It kinda reminds me of sports fans rooting against their rivals or something. Like the Packer fans wishing the Bears would go 0-16. But they don't seem to know we're all on the same team here.

When Bush was "elected" president, the first thing out of my mouth was "I hope he becomes the greatest president of all time. Because his greatness will make our country great and also the rest of the world great." BUT as we all know he turned out to be the WORST in history and now we and the world suffer for it.

When Obama became president, all I heard from Republicans was "He sucks! I hope he fails!" WHY would you say that? If he fails, unemployment would climb to 90% instead of 10%? You would all lose your jobs and homes. So you want him to fail just so you can say "Democrats suck!"????????? This isn't a sports rivalry folks. If he succeeds we all benefit. If he fails we all suffer.

I post on several BBs and all I hear from Republicans is how Obama is horrible (starting with day 1) and how he tripled the deficit. But where was their outrage when Reagan tripled the deficit back in the 80s? Or how Bush inherited a surplus and turned it in to record deficit with his war games and handing out kickbacks to all his pals in the oil business?

I mean it's not like Obama is spending all the money pimping out the White House and Air Force 1..... he's trying to fix all the problems Bush left him.

Someone told me a great analogy.... Current situation is like a dam that is cracking and about to burst open, flooding the towns below and killing everyone. Bush did not appreciate the dam or respect it... so he kept abusing it over by driving tanks on it and throwing dynmites at it. When the cracks began appearing, he ignored it. Years went by and the cracks grew larger and larger, finally about to burst. Finally someone who knew the importance of the dam saw this and decided to fix it even though it would cost 3 times more to fix it than it took to damage it. He had no choice as the dam needed to be saved.

The End.

Many Republicans are conservatives and stand true to those principles. So of course people with an opposing philosophical mind set do not want the socialist agenda to succeed! They see it as the sacrificing of the initiative of each individual for the stifling "comfort" of the nanny state.

Where was the bipartisanship during the last administration? Blocking of nominees and budget battles ruled those years. Obstructionism was honed to a razor's edge. Don't act as though this is not how business was done by the other side.

So let's continue along your analogy...

So the hope and change guy shows up and spends more money by giving it away slowly on social programs which do nothing to create jobs or improve infrastructure. The "stimulus plan" is pretty limp, and the only screwing was to the working and productive people who will be paying on the lingering debt for decades to come. He then scares big businesses with threats of huge tax disincentives and the likelihood of forcing them to shoulder the outrageous costs of his health care nightmare scheme. This is an economic recovery plan?

Does this lessen the load on your cracking dam???

Reagan followed the US Constitution and protected the US. What is the compelling authority for the wasting of tax money on social programs when we are deeply in a hole already? Where is any accountability for how our money is being spent?

Wake up -- the alarm is ringing and you are missing it.

"I hope he becomes the greatest president of all time. Because his greatness will make our country great and also the rest of the world great."? I'm really sure you said this but you're right about the "football game mentality" as further evidenced by your post! Do you say this now: “Barack Hussein Obama is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life."? I gave Him right up to the moment where He "closed" GITMO and has gotten progressively worse everyday with bills being pushed through Congress unread, the deficit up to $1.7 TRILLION dollars [and another false Stimulus in the works?], Cap & Trade Tax, the GM take over, 31 "czars {a "Bonus Czar", really? Where is THAT in the Constitution?}, government-sponsored healthcare when the government can't even run the VA or Medi-care systems right... do I go on? How about His marriage to special interest groups like SEIU, ACORN, UAW, and GE and their role in policy making? BTW to compare Reagan or Bush spending is like saying both Ted Bundy and Pol Pot were "killers"; it's a matter of numerical semantics. Where was their outrage then? Where is yours NOW?

Yeah because you liberals where the biggest cheerleaders of the Bush Admin?

I suggest a mirror that reflects.

You also need to get one thing correct. Obama is fixing the problems of your democrat control congress (not really doing much to fix it to be frank) and if you place full blame on him for any war I suggest you find the list of Democrats who had the same intel as Bush. Place the blame where it is due. The democrats always have had a history of messing things up and not taking blame for it. The democrats always target the less educated voters and it is really starting to show what dumb people voting can do.

    It is a recent thing.

There is a great deal of bitterness and anger in the Republican party. They thought they had a permanent majority. They lost it.

They now have no credibility because every idea they had, every policy they pushed has failed. And they are mad.

Hopefully this will open the way for a new party. Republican party without the wing-nuts, racists, and religious nut jobs. The "True Republican Party". America first.

Someone had told me a great analogy.....someone who knew the importance of the dam saw this and decided to fix it by getting a sledge hammer and making the hole bigger!

We all heard dumb analogies, it just depends on how you lean politicaly as to which one you like and accept.
