What is a really good movie musical?

If you liked Moulin Rouge (I'm a HUGE fan of that director) check out his movie Romeo + Juliet, it's done in the same exact style and mixes contemporary music with music of that era. LOVE LOVE LOVE MOULIN ROUGE. It had me crying...

Also, Chicago. A must see! I've watched it way too many times, great choreography.

Sweeney Todd. A dark musical with a good twist that you'll never see coming at the end. Very, very good movie. Don't worry about the R rating, the blood looks really fake. Almost like red paint.

Across the universe. I love the Beatles so this movie did it for me. It's basically a big music video, the plot could have been better, but the music and choreography makes up for it all!

Mama Mia! I've seen it 4 times. 3 times in theater. It's a feel good movie that'll keep you singing if your a fan of ABBA.

The Producers. I had no faith in this movie but was pleasantly surprised. Very funny musical about two people putting on a musical called Springtime for Hitler. A gay guy gets the role of Hitler. Had me laughing the whole time.

Hairspray. It's a really cute musical. I saw it opening night and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Phantom of the Opera. Dark, gothic, creepy...whatever you want to call it. It's still amazing. I have the music on my ipod. This is a must see movie with a bitter sweet ending.

Rent. I saw this movie last year and have recently become a fan. It centers around a group of friends who battle AIDS. It's very touching and if you're into rock n' roll then you'll love the soundtrack.

I love Moulin Rouge. So if you like what i like then watch these

I don't really get interested in the ones made recently. The only ones I've really seen and liked was Meet me in St Louis (1944), Annie (1982), The Sound of Music (1965), and the Wizard of Oz (1939).

Try High School Musical. That's a joke in my opinion, but it's recent.

My 2 favorites are

Across the Universe (gotta love the Beatles)

The Rocky Horror Picture Show(its different but its a really good movie)

Hairspray (the newer one) and Across the Universe are both nvery good musicals, in my opinion. Across the universe is based on the Beatles songs, so if you like their songs, you might enjoy that movie even more
