I have both, and I much prefer real ones. I like to keep my tanks full of plants, and it's very difficult (and expensive!) to do that with fake plants! A big plus with real plants is that some kinds will multiply on their own (like Water Sprite, I'm told -- I just got one so I haven't see it for myself yet), and others you can make grow new plants by separating the roots and dividing it into two pieces. A few months ago I bought one Amazon Sword plant, and I now have turned that into four Amazon Swords. Of course, it sucks when they die because you lost out on the money there, but as long you choose hardy plants, you should generally be okay... Through random buying, I've found that Amazon Sword and Umbrella plants do really well in my tank, while Aqua Fern does not. I won't be buying that one again. I also have a few others in my tanks, but I can't remember what they are off the top of my head. But in the end, aquatic plants can SAVE you money because you end up with more than you originally bought, which is quite nice!

Real plants are better and look nicer, but fake plants are more easy to manage. Especially if you can't seem to keep a real plant alive or your fish just eat or destroy the plant.

    Hello,

Fake plants are; cheap, look fake and don't help with the fish. Real plants are; little more expensive, give off oxygen into the water, grazing material for fish and look fantastic. Get real ones.

Fake plants: fake plants are made of plastic and they don't look very nice in your tank. usually they are made as a resemblence of real species of plants. good thing is that they are fake and not living, so no maintainence is required for them.

real plants: real plants are real and alive. they look a lot nicer in your tank than fake ones. there is over 70 different species of aqautic aqaurium plants. maintainence and a certain water temperature is requaried to keep them. fish also feel somewhat 'happier' around them. be on the lookout for snails and snail eggs that have attached to the leaves of live plants when buying them. if such snails are present, remove them when you get home.

Fake is a whole lot better. Plus some real plants have some sort of chemicals that are fatal to some certain fish. And some eat at real ones so fake is the way to go.

i would have fake plants in the fish tank since real plants can drain the fish tank since real plants need water, also real plants can strangle and kill the fish that you have depending on the size of the plants and fish that you have so i think that its better to have fake plants in the tank since fake plants can't entangle strangle and kill fish and they dont require water
