At 3-4 weeks of age they are mostly at the stage where they are near to leaving the nest. Most budgies leave the nest at 4 weeks. At this stage they would readily accept a feed off a bent spoon. In Australia there is a passwells product called Budgie Starter. If you get some of that and make it runny and warm ( not too hot, and not cold ) and tap the babies on the side of the beak with the warm food they should open wide for a feed. If its runny it will go down well and they will get a good feed. Dont try and give them water as they can aspirate it into their lungs and die. The water will be in the food you give them.

Budgie starter has a combination of handrearing food with seeds in it and all the extras and vitamins. Believe me they can actually digest seeds at this age as they would have been fed seeds by their parents from the age of 2 weeks and been digesting them.

If you have the babies still in a nest they will need warmth. You can acchieve this by having a 25 to 40 watt globe near them to give off warmth ( not flouro light nor energy saving as neither of those give off enough warmth ).

I put seed in the nestbox with my babies from the age of 2 weeks anyway which makes them pretty independant earlier on and they learn to feed themselves as well as feeds from parents. When they leave the nestbox they automatically know how to feed themselves as they recognise the seed. So put a decent amount of seed in whatever you are keeping them in....they will try it by looking around their "nest". Good luck.

you must concider taking each birds to the vet for tests to reveal for viable issues. you could desire to appear into pellet diets. seed diets are top in fats and occasional in nutrients demands. bought to observe the sugar content material even in end result. rather then that i suppose they're getting what they want. could desire to check out feeding them egg meals. the vet can propose a breeding nutrition a ways larger than ever might. some thing might be flawed and the birds might be similar. inbreeding is this sort of predicament in puppy shops. i've have the daddy chicken who breeded inside his instant household. i additionally had his daughter however she had a few issues considering the fact that of it. she did not make it beyond a yr and a part. it used to be terrible. difficult to mention what's going on along with your pair. possibly you must get ahold of a breeder and get a brand new male for the feminine and a brand new feminine for the opposite male. see if the brand new inventory is helping the predicament. Best needs! Being a breeder is elaborate paintings. You bought plenty of labor a head of you. Not certain if I might ever do this. Good success hun! :)

You do NOT feed them mashed up worms and insects! That is for wild birds, not domesticated birds!

You need to hand feed them. Here is a link with a video, information, step-by-step information, and a supplies list. It will help you:

just dig up some dirt and find worms and bug and stuff. mash them all up using a spoon or something and then try to feed it to them by putting it onto ur finger and holding it to their beaks letting them eat it. or just keep them whole and try to feed it to them. they must eat or they will die, if they dont eat it try GENTLY coaxing them and force it into there mouths while comforting them at the same time so they dont get scared.

Source(s): some baby birds fell out of a tree and the mother didnt come back so my and my friend just fed them worms and stuff the same way
