are there one-handed equivalents for two-handed signs in BSL?

i ask as i am trying to teach my son to sign but while pregnant with him I had a stroke so I can no longer use my left hand. On the plus side I am right handed but I was wondering if there were equivalents that I could use instead. For example the sign for horse is two handed, is there a one handed sign for it and where could i find it?

Thanks

i don't know BSL very well but i know that in general, it is more two-handed than ASL. for example, ASL uses a one-handed alphabet and 'horse' in ASL uses one hand. if this isn't too inconvenient or impractical, you might try substituting the ASL signs. not completely, but if there are BSL signs you can't do just teach the ASL ones, they'll probably be mimetic enough that they'll be understood in BSL. in ASL, horse is just where you put the tip of your thumb against your temple, raise your index and middle fingers and (keeping them straight) flap them twice.

    hope that helped!

You need to teach him American sign Language. They only use one hand for most words (I think!).
