  • are there one-handed equivalents for two-handed signs in BSL?

i ask as i am trying to teach my son to sign but while pregnant with him I had a stroke so I can no longer use my left hand. On the plus side I am right handed but I was wondering if there were equivalents that I could use instead. For example the sign for horse is two handed, is there a one handed sign for it and where could i find it?

    Thanks

  • Is the popping of a pregnant womans belly button sudden or gradual?

OK - I have been arguing about this for days with my other 1/2 so I need you lot to settle it. During the third trimester of pregancy, some women's belly buttons go from an "innie" to an "outie", often refered to as popping. Is this change sudden or is it gradual? Please help me settle this once and for all, before I decide to poison his pack lunch just to shut him up!

  • Why are there so many Americans here?

Please don't take this the wrong way but surely you Americans would find better, more accurate and pertinant answers to your questions on the American version of Yahoo Answers?

I could understand it if you were asking questions about the UK and Ireland or issues involving us but, for example, a question the other day about marriage licenses in the US - why would you expect us to know that?!

And to be fair, it isn't just Americans, there are other nationalities, it is just there are more of you than most. So WHY are you here?

  • Has anyone had a DIY layered haircut? If so how was it done and how did it turn out?

The reason behind this question is my hubby and I cut each others hair. I shave his head and he trims mine to a reasonable length - this is because we don't earn alot and have to save money any way we can.

Now, I fancy a change of hairstyle and my hubby remembers seeing a TV program where the hairdresser gathered all the hair up into a pony tail on the top of the head and then just cut the pony tail off. This produced a nice layered cut which just needed a little tidying up. I, however, am not sure about this and want to see it demonstrated before I do something so drastic...

So basically if you have had this or another simple method used on you, how did it turn out? Do you have a picture anywhere so I can see how it went? Or do you know of a website where this technique is demonstrated?

Thanks all of you lovely people for your help
