Has anyone had a DIY layered haircut? If so how was it done and how did it turn out?

your husband has been cutting your hair at 0 degrees (geometrically speaking) -- you notice it turns out with no layers at all -- if he goes to the back of the head and pulls out to 45 degrees -- the bottom part of your hair will be layered -- and will probably flip on it's own -- if he pulls your hair straight back ( in manageable pieces ) he didn't try to trim all your hair at one cut, did he -- it's just easier to handle if you cut the hair in smaller pieces -- it also won't be chipped-up looking -- anyway straight back toward himself -- that's 90 degrees -- the result of that is layers higher up on the head than the 45 degree one where the layers just fall at the bottom of the hair -- if he takes it all the way up to the top in a ponytail -- that's 180 degrees -- as long as he doesn't cut too far down the ponytail -- just maybe an inch or two would be fine -- just so you don't have chippy looking hair because of trying to cut through too much hair -- depends really on how thick your hair is -- but yes that works great -- you can also pull it up in a ponytail and twist the ponytail real tight and then cut -- what i mean by chipped up is this -- take a stack of cloth ( like you're gonna cut it for a sewing project) and cut a big stack of squares of cloth -- see how chipped up that looks -- now cut one or two squares of cloth (it's easier to cut and it comes out smooth and straight) it's the same with hair.

Wow! you are brave. I started cutting my own hair (Girlfried does back bit) about a year ago for the same reason, have saved lots of cash. I wouldn't risk cutting her hair though, I enjoy life too much.

I think anything beyond simple trimming is a bit risky, you could try a visiting a hair dresser who works from home (I know one who cuts womens hair for £15), professional touch but not as pricey, ask around.

my mate cut my hair into layers t o anno my mum coz she is so obbsesive about my hair but i cam out gorgoeus she also put my extensions in for me and now wants to become a hairdresser so just try it and if it doesnt work it will grow back !!! good luck

I have a V cut that I did by myself and it came out like a pro.

Usually, which too long for me. I think it depends on the guy and his face though. Certain guys can easily pull off long hair and other people can't.

i studied h/dressing and yes that method works fine!! put the ponytail up high then have it coming over the front of ur face a bit & cut at a slight angle (from the front of ur face outwards & slightly pointing down) god that makes no sense at all sorry!!!

If you do it just make for sure you cut behind the ponytail not above it. It will leave you enough to straighten out.

a mate of mine cut my hair once and he didn't tell me he was drunk,he gave me a undercut with scissors but it was so bad he then used a razor to shave it totally bald,but it was loped sided i looked real odd for about a month
