Has Obama endorsed a 19 percent maximum income tax rate?
Obama's full quote was:
“No country is going to create wealth if its leaders exploit the economy to enrich themselves, or police can be bought off by drug traffickers,” he said. “No business wants to invest in a place where the government skims 20 percent off the top, or the head of the port authority is corrupt. No person wants to live in a society where the rule of law gives way to the rule of brutality and bribery. That is not democracy, that is tyranny, and now is the time for it to end.”

I don't know but did you know there's been a movement in this country to abolish the income tax for some time now? There's a dispute of it's validity. The personal income tax came into play at the same time they passed the Federal Reserve act of 1913. The income tax was set up to pay interest on the Federal Reserve debt that we owe each year. Congress had the right to coin money and regulate it according to our Constitution and they gave that right to a private banking cartel (Fed. Reserve.) Now when we need money, we get the fed to print some up. They charge us interest on it and our personal income taxes are collected to pay the interest on that debt. Bad Congress! According to some of my research into this, there are over 67 million Americans who don't pay taxes any more.
Source(s): There's a youtube video series called Freedom to Facism that goes into great detail about personal income tax and how the 16th amendment of the Constitution was never supposed to include our personal labor for taxing purposes. - Anonymous5 years ago
Tax and spend or borrow and spend? That seems to be the choice. I received several reductions in taxes under the Republican way of running the government and the economy. The problem is, though I'm paying less in taxes the costs of everything has risen so much that I have far less money to save and invest than ever before. Its a scam, they first deregulate corporations and capital gains, they then reduce taxes, the cost of everything increases (except wages, which stagnate or decline) so what was being taken from us in taxes is now being used to provide the golden parachute for some CEO.

If you tax small businesses 19% whose income is approx. 250,000 to 300,000 per year, business in the United States will be dead as a door nail. The philosophy of sharing the wealth; so the little people can have a piece of the pie without the hard work, has been tried in Russia and E. Germany and Cuba...Excuse me look at those countries...they all are starting to use capitalism in one form of the other...so Obama to me is way out of step. Yes there will always be corruption, and don't you think there is corruption today? But, on the whole capitalism has outstood its competitors and America is still the land of opportunity where a poor person can come here and work hard and be successful! Why is this being taken away by a few eggheads in Washington who think they are smarter than the American people...Marxism/Communism/Socialism has been tried over and over again, and it has failed miserably. Talk about tyranny...hmm...When a government starts owning banks; insurance companies; car companies and the media TV and Radio; we are now on the road to total government control of our lives.

We will be taxed. It may not all come from income but it will add up to a high amount. Health care will be the end of us. When people really understand what health care is all about and how much everyone will pay for even those that are illegal there will be a huge dip in the obama factor in this country.

Your taking his comment out of context. He is talking about bribery, a big problem in countries in Africa, not taxation. When was the last time you needed to bribe a government official to get something done? Probably never, and that's an incentive for business to stay.

He's full of it as usual. He's the only politician who can say one thing and do the other every single day and get away with it. I've come to the conclusion that his 'followers' are just plain stupid. They sure can't claim ignorance at this point.

No. The U.S. Constitution and the U.S. tax code determines that we have to pay taxes. Right now with the exception of some tax breaks that were in the stimulus we are paying the tax amount that was approved in the Bush 2009 budget.

Another example of reading comprehension being at an all time low. Can you really make that assertion with a straight face after reading that article?
