Does America have the power to make the World conform to our abstract principles and rational schemes?

How many sons and daughters will American parents sacrifice, and how much money will tax payers spend to spread our brand of Democracy, Christianity and Christianity World Wide?

Update:

I discovered Steven B’s clever, amusing, insightful responses to other posts through his answer here. So I am adding Steven B as a favorite, and giving him15 points and five stars!

Update 2:

BTW, Cognito, I was born raised, educated in NE Ohio, and unfortunately have never been to Europe.

Fortunately forceful, arrogance is not a trait of most Americans.

First person to post on here is a idiot.

First to enforce peace is not really peace since you killing, hurting, and keeping them obeying through scare tactics.

Second we was the ones who in Iraq as well as other country destroy the democracy and peace in the country in the first place.

Like in Iraq they had a very good president however he was going to make it where the oil money went to his own people instead of the rich people over in the USA. So the USA president had the CIA kill him then put a dictator in charge over their.

Who stayed until eh got rich enough then left the country with out a leader which put it into a civil where so many people died.

Then some one who was trying to gain power seem like they would obey us and be or dog. So we got him all the power over their even through he gas and had a death squad who would kill any one even if they said the smallest thing about him.

However he obey us and was a good dog so we did not care. Until the first war with them but then he surrender and promise to be a good dog again and he was for a while. However then he attack his master the USA this time we took him out of being in charge. It will be the same as always we will not leave until we find a good dog to obey us who will rule the country. We do these terrible things to so many other small country's.

So i don't blame them for hating us however by attacking us they wrong to even through i can understand it.

Uh and i am from and born from the USA one side of my family was here before it was even a country the other came right after.

However this country is a killer and greedy.

Pretty much every dictator out their we put in charge by us and as long as they good doggy's we don't care what they do to their own people.

Uh and i am a christian to but i hate how most christian act since most or ignorant and try to force the religion on others.

In the end i feel so sorry for people from all these country where we hurt them so bad.

The only 2 real reason the USA went to war with them is oil and Bush dad was made to look like a fool by them because he left the country did not finish him off.

    Hello,

Please realize that U.S. forces are not out spreading democracy or ideology or religion, but that the current IRaq war was begun on the premise of fighting terrorism, but with the real purpose of promoting U,S. business interests abroad, along with the hope of creating a perpetual war state against said terrorism an effort to keep the Republicans in power.

When they found this was no longer a plausible approach, the Republican leaders began to bankrupt the U.S. economy, hoping to discredit any future non-Republican agendas.

Religion does not enter into this, only greed and the lust for power..

The U.S. cannot even take a moral stand against an obviously evil foe such as in Sudan or North Korea for fear of upsetting the bonds forged with the Chinese political elite.

Notice that no churches are being built by U.S. forces, nor are political races being held with a guarantee of fairness and openness.

    Thank you for your question.

Yea, that whole cap and tax thing will cost trillions. Forcing our values on the world is a wasted exercise. Junk science will be the lever that forces socialism on all of us.

Ok, to answer the broad question, yes.

Technically, with the USs power, allies, and resources they could easily conform the entire world to their agenda. This could be done with the loss of few American's, a varying amount of money.(The US has had nukes and chemical weapons stockpiled since WW2 and the Cold War)

And on the grounds of Christianity and Democracy, it is impossible to force a belief, especially religion upon people of opposing viewpoints(even when threatend).

america, or the united states, does not have a national religion. christianity isn't even as deeply rooted here as it is in... england, spain, italy, etc.

i will concede that religious extremists try to infiltrate the government through politics, and lobby for unconstitutional bills that would strip away the freedom of religion, or to not practice it. however, there are far worse countries that have fundamentalists at the helms, burning bridges and breaking resolutions with every action they take.

Doesn't seem so. We certainly can't claim the economic power we once did. We have military power, but it's not overwhelming enough to do much in spreading democracy. Taking longer to bring democracy to Iraq than it did to bring it to Germany during WWII. Moral power/authority? Don't know. I don't think our founding father's wanted us to be involved in the affairs of other countries.

Should we find Osama Bin Laden and bring him to justice and destroy Al Quida, Hell Yes!! But what does that have to do with spreading Christianity? "The government shall make no laws establishing....."

remember that one, you guys that are wrapping that stuff up in the flag???

    Let it try.

Force will only create people to oppose it, by peaceful or non-peaceful means.

It's a shame the stupid Americans didn't realise this sooner as then we wouldn't have all these terrorists trying to destroy the country trying to force its will on others.

Youre not even American, are you? Quit using the word "our"

You are assuming that morality isnt absolute. I would disagree with you.

We are within our religious obligations to spread the word of God... that isnt an American task, that is a Christian task... and there are Christians all over the world.

We are within our moral obligations to spread what is right and fair and just, to enforce peace, permit prosperity... you cannot argue otherwise. Unless you are in favor of dictatorship and the abuse of human beings. America has the power to do what is right, and we are ethically bound to do so.

What is with Europe sitting on their bums and letting heinous immoralities continue in the mid and far east... they have no right to complain about Americans morality. We are ethical for believing in our morals enough to actually follow them. Europe are hypocrites. They say they are moral but they allow immorality to continue. They have no ethics.

No one is converting religion or politics or economies. We are letting the people there decide for themselves what they want... contrary to their abusive dictator leaders. How is that so wrong?

America has such a great cultural and religious diversity that you are OBVIOUSLY full of crap to criticize us for any "intolerance". Europe is intolerant they dont even want to get involved... they dont want to face it, confront it... stick their nose in the air and put an imaginary non-interference border around their countries... let the rest of the world go to hell our of some "ethical" ideal. Right!
