During the World War the poor sacrificed their lives and the rich sacrificed a few of their multiple mansions, cut the size of their fleets of exotic cars, and reduced the size of their yachts.
You present an interesting take on the current situation Russ.
I agree with your point that super rich families like the Roosevelts and Kennedys were ready and willing to sacrifice for the necessary and noble causes World-War Two.
You point out that the two Wars are not the same.
Funding attitudes should be different.
Thanks to your keen analysis I can see how the super rich of today should not as willing to likewise sacrifice some of their obscene wealth to further fund the horrible Bush/Cheney miscalculations of the Iraq War.

During World War Two to Tax Rate for the super Billionaires was 90%. If Bush had raised the Tax Rates for his buddies to 90% for the duration of the War they would have told him to get out that day!They would look down their noses and said "Sacrifice for your country is for poor and middle Class people, not for the privileged Elite" We believe in "Rugged Individualism" (a euphemism for these people for their "Greedy Selfishness")
Unfortunately the super rich have bought themselves both the Democrat and Republican parties, so don't expect any big, or fair, revisions on their tax breaks.

I think you're full of hot air.
The rich in 1940-41 included people like Roosevelt and Joe Kennedy. The yachts they managed to hold onto during the depression, prolonged by Roosevelt high taxes and higher government spending, were seized to be used as coastal patrol boats and convoy escorts.
You probably don't know that the war with Germany did not end in 1945. October 24, 1951 Truman declares war with Germany officially over
