Moving to Atlanta, Ga? GSU? Apts?

I am about to start my Senior year of high school and I plan on moving to Atlanta about a week or two after my high school graduation (I will be 17..bf 18).

I wanted to know of any apartments in the downtown area or not too far from Georgia State Univ (the school I plan on attending) that are affordable and by affordable I mean up to $750/month.

Any suggestions? And I am willing to travel at the most 15-20 miles to get to GSU.

A 1 bedroom would do just find (me and bf).

And anything else I would need to know about "surviving" in ATL would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

and by the way I'm moving from Baton Rouge, La., I have been to ATL before and I have a cousin that lives in Conyers (never been to her house though and not close with her)

Thanks.

Well if you could actually afford just a little more, say 850 a month? you could get a nice one bedroom int he downtown area, nice area and be about a 5 minute drive from campus.

You could look up apartments in the midtown area, buckhead, virginia highlands and be in a nice area and really close to school. One bedrooms are typically 800 and up in these areas.

IF you cannot go beyond 750, I know that marietta, smyrna, kennesaw areas are also nice areas with malls, a lot of restaurants, and things to do and there are just straight up I-75 about 10-20 minutes from GSU.

Specific apartments I know in the midtown area that have websites are: www.camdenliving.com (look up camden midtown atlanta) and Savannah Midtown

Or try rent.com (that is where I found my apartment) and do a search with your price range and 25 mi. distance away from 30303 zip code (that;s GSU's zip code)

    Good Luck!

$750 is probably the bottom of the price range for downtown living. You might check for units that rent specifically to students that might be more affordable. There are also option near GA Tech for students, look in the midtown area if you want to stay intown.

The good thing about GSU is you can take the train downtown to the campus so any apartment on or near the MARTA rail lines will work for you. You don't need to live next door to campus. Driving downtown and parking is a ***** anyway.
