Men's clothes for a wedding?

Question

My friend is getting married in a few weeks, and she asked me to be a bridesmaid.  I'm bringing another friend of mine as my date, and neither of us know what the appropriate dress code is.

It's an outdoor, summer wedding so it is going to be hot, if that makes a difference.  It will be a somewhat relaxed wedding as far as I know.  

What should my date wear that is appropriate but as comfortable as possible?

You can never go wrong with a nice button-down shirt in a white or light blue, tucked into some freshly-ironed khakis.

You can never go wrong with slacks and a nice button down, if it's an afternoon summer wedding I'm sure he could even get away with short sleeves.  He may even be able to get away with khakis if it is a relaxed wedding.  There is no reason not to ask your friend what she envisions her male guests wearing, I'm sure she'd  be more than happy to tell you.

I am having an outdoor summer wedding as well and I don't envision my guests wearing anything more than maybe a nice sundress, or khaki's and a decent shirt.  It wouldn't be fair of me to expect them to sit outside in the heat wearing formal attire.

Being that it is a wedding, he couldn't go wrong with wearing a summer suit and tie ---- something lightweight.  Can remove the coat and tie after the wedding ceremony and pictures are finished. With a shortsleeved shirt on, he should be comfortable

 Don't dress too casually for the ceremony--- even though it is outdoors, it still is a wedding.

Pink wedding dress, but make sure it has a top. Other-wise, the bride will be upset.

I would say if he is into plaid shorts that would be really nice..with a polo?!!!
