It's healthy to have some sun exposure for Vitamin D so early morning sun and late afternoon sunshine is best as it is least likely to burn you quickly. A little each day is best.

Self tanning lotions and spray tans as well as sunscreens contain a cocktail of dubious chemicals that you should steer clear of.

Actually, that is a common misconception...especially for the more pale population. The best way to tan is with sunscreen. When you don't use sunscreen, the sun fries your skin and causes damage. Sunscreen protects your skin from the damaging rays but will still let you get the tan that you want. You just have to figure out the right spf for you. I tan fairly easily due to my latina roots but also burn kind of easily due to my german roots on my moms side. I can do pretty well with an 8. If you are kind of pale, I would start with 15. This will protect you from the sun but won't completely block it at the same time. So start with a 15 and try 30 to 45 minutes a day. Make sure you take care of your skin when you get out of the sun as well. Your skin needs moisture. If you have a nice body, speaking from a woman's standpoint, nothing would ruine it more than dry flaky skin on your muscles. A healthy and lasting tan takes time.

Well I can't wait to see you in 25 years. Gross you'll be wrinkled with skin cancer and if you stop working out flab.

Tanning lotion moisturizes the skin and the sun dries out the skin. No tanning lotion means great set of wrinkles. You need lots of moisturizers when tanning. If you don't tan easily it can take several weeks and 30 minutes a day is good but you need to know not everybody can tan. You could just burn and if that is the case your only alternative is fake tans. Always start with a sun screen of at least 15 if you are only out for 30 minutes and reduce to 8 and so on as you get darker. If you find you are out in the sun longer you may need a stronger sunscreen of 30 if you are really white.

After showering use lots of moisturizer preferably with no alcohol added.

  • See if there's a Mystic or Versaspa place around. Airbrush tanning, spray tanning, whatever you want to call it is the best way to go. It's a little expensive, but it is worth keeping your skin in good condition. You don't want aging spots, wrinkles, or even worse cancer.

Sunscreen in the sun doesn't work for everybody. I am extremely pale naturally, and I get sprayed twice a week, and everyone think its a real tan. Don't let people tell you that it will always turn out orange, because that's not always true. If you overdo it, yeah, but otherwise not always. Celebrities always admit that they get sprayed.

    Hope I helped!(:

Tanning is bad. It will make you wrinkle at an early age. I would rather be white and pasty and stay young looking longer than to get a really cool tan all the time and droop and sag real bad at 30 and 40.

    Try a tanning bed.

Get a really good tanning oil from your local tanning salon.

I tan at my gym. You need to start off slowly, probably like 3 minutes your first few times, then 4 minutes for 3 times, then slowly start increasing your time. Try going 3 times a week or so. If you find you are burning, don't increase your time until you don't burn anymore.

You won't see immediate results, but give it time.

    Good Luck :)

Mix butter in with your Sunblock. If you dont use sunblock, you WILL burn, and you will look worse than you do now. Butter seems to tan you fairly well, and put on Aloe Gel afterwords to keep the tan longer.

I personally dont tan (I love being pale) but my friends are obsessed and this is what they all do.

If you don't have melanin, and you sit in direct sunlight for 30 minutes, You will burn, badly.

Buy a sun tan lotion or oil. They have SPF and you'll get the tan you want :)

Or go to a tanning booth. :D That should be an experience. lol

30 minutes a day out is good enough. i go skateboarding alot so i'm often outside for hours but i dont burn. i have higher pigmented skin

i dont care for tanning oil or sun block either.

if your skin is as white as you say it, take strong caution. you will burn fast. so consider 15 minutes and then gradually increases the time.

this is said to be the healthiest way to tan.

if you are that white then you don't need to sit in the sun without sunscreen, you will burn,no doubt.

go to a tanning salon and get a fake tan,a lot of people do that now.
