Wedding dress ideas for the curvy short woman?
I'm looking for wedding dress ideas that flatter my figure...I'm about 5'1 140 lbs...I'm a little more heavy on the bottom in the hips and thighs... I am told that empire waists are the only flattering wedding gowns for curvy girls but want more suggestions...I know I'm bigger than most wedding gowns are made for but I'm not a plus size woman (size 10) and most plus size dresses are for people 5'8 and taller... Need something that flatters a shorter than most and curvier than most figure...any suggestions are good suggestions...pictures, websites, or stores (preferably i the DC, DMV area) would be ideal
Thanks

You need something that will make you appear taller and smaller.
So you need something that draws attention to your face and and waist.
An a-line or yes an empire waist dress will be best for you.
An a-line will draw attention to your waist and covering up your bottom half, making you appear smaller.
An empire dress the skirt starts just below your bust, making you appear taller.
Then look for dresses that have a lot of detailing at the top and/or ornate halter or spaghetti straps to draw the attention to your face.
Fix your hair really pretty, wear a gorgeous necklace or earrings depending on the amount of detailing at the top of the dress.
Now that you know what to look for, here are some pictures for you visualize it all together and you can pick a dress that fits your personality:

What is good about Maggie Sottero is you can choose a sleeve type on almost every dress and lengthen or shorten it when you order it so it might not have to be altered.

Your gown will probably have major alterations in length and fit, so make an appointment at a bridal shop, and start trying on. The salesperson or manager should have experience with a lot of sizes and shapes, so ask for suggestions within your price range. If you wear a size 10 in normal dresses, you will wear at least a 12 in wedding dresses.

Okay so I am about 5'2" and 160 and I just bought my wedding dress, I went to davids bridal and I tried on about 120 dresses and the ones that looked the best were the halters that were fitting and they made me look very slim, and I also went to victoria Secret and bought a body slimmer for your wedding day and they really do work.
